Last Updated Dec 5, 2022

LG TVs are certainly some of the most popular televisions on the market today. Consumers love their affordable price points, picture quality, and various special features. However, like any tech device, LG TVs are not perfect, and there are some common problems users experience, such as a blue-tinted screen. So let’s find out: Why does my LG TV have a blue tint?

If your LG TV has a blue tint, there may be a problem with the picture settings, the HDMI cable connection, or your TV’s backlight panel. However, before you begin troubleshooting the issue, there are a few more things you should know.

If you want to learn how to figure out if your LG TV backlight is broken or if you can solve the blue tint issue by simply changing the picture settings or adjusting the HDMI cable, keep reading! We have all the information you need right here to find out why your LG TV has a blue tint on the screen.

Why Does My LG TV Have a Blue Tint?

When it comes to figuring out why an electronic device is malfunctioning, you usually have to try a few solutions before actually realizing what the issue was in the first place!

There are three likely reasons why your LG TV has a blue tint:

  • The picture settings are not set correctly.
  • The HDMI, or other cables, are not connected properly.
  • The TV’s backlight panel is broken.

Now, unless you are psychic, you probably don’t know what problem your TV is actually facing. In order to find out what’s going on, you will need to try each of these three solutions and see which one fixes it!

For your convenience, we have listed the tactics in order from simplest to most challenging, so in case you fix the problem in the first minute, you can stop trying more and start enjoying your LG TV again without a blue tint!

NOTE: Before you start trying to find out why your LG TV has a blue tint, you will first want to try the easiest and most common problem-solving solution on the planet: turning it off and on!

Adjust the Picture Settings

First things first, your screen may not be broken at all; it might just be that your picture settings accidentally got changed! In order to find out if this is the reason why your LG TV is blue-tinted, here’s what you need to do.

  • Navigate to the Settings menu on your LG TV.
  • Select the Picture option.
  • Then click Picture Mode Settings.
  • Tap Picture Mode.
  • Select Cinema or Cinema Home.

As well, there is a chance that your color settings have been set to “Cool” instead of “Warm.”

While you’re in the picture settings menu, you can simply adjust the color settings and maybe even play around and make sure all the settings are perfect for your LG TV!

Hopefully, the blue tint on your LG screen is now gone! If it’s not, we have a couple of more solutions to try.

Ensure the HDMI & Cables Are Connected Properly

One of the more common reasons why LG TV screens become blue-tinted is simply because the HDMI cable is not connected correctly.

In order to find out if the cables coming out of the back of your TV are the cause of your blue-tint issue, you will need to check the cables, starting with the HDMI, to ensure they are properly connected and not damaged.

The HDMI cable should be securely fastened to the TV and whatever cable box or external device it’s connected to.

As well as all the other cables, it’s important to notice if any of the internal wires are exposed or if there are any kinks.

If you find an issue with the cables, that’s probably why your LG TV is tinted blue! All you need to do is replace or properly connect the cable, and you’ll be good to go!

If this doesn’t work, you might want to perform a reset on your LG TV.

Call a Technician to Check Your Backlight Panel

This is a fairly common problem for LG TVs manufactured before 2019; however, it does still occur occasionally on newer models: the backlight panel on your LG TV may simply be broken.

Unless you know how to take apart a television, examine a backlight panel, fix it, and then put it back together, it’s probably time to call the LG customer support team for help.

They may send a technician out to help, or if your TV is still under warranty, they may pay to have you send the TV back and send you a replacement!

If none of this has worked, we have more tech troubleshooting tips that work on almost any device!

Either way, this is the final step to take if your LG TV is still tinted blue even after attempting all the problem-solving tactics we’ve already listed!

The Bottom Line

If your LG TV has a blue tint, it’s most likely because the picture settings are off, the HDMI or various other cables are disconnected, or the backlight panel in your television is broken or malfunctioning.

But hopefully, you now have all the information to solve the problem yourself, or at least make a call if need be!
