Can You Connect HelloBaby Monitor To Your Phone?

Last Updated Jul 21, 2022

If you want to keep an eye on your little one while they are sleeping in another room with a baby monitor, sometimes it helps to check your baby on your phone rather than worrying about a display unit being charged. Many baby monitors can now be linked to an app, but can you connect a HelloBaby monitor to a phone?

The HelloBaby Monitor cannot be connected to a phone. HelloBaby currently doesn’t have an iOS or Android app available for use with its baby monitors. However, you can buy multiple display parent units that will work with your HelloBaby system.

Even though the HelloBaby Monitor system doesn’t connect to an external iOS or Android application, it can support multiple display parent units. Though, that would only allow local viewing of the baby monitoring system as the system does not connect to the internet and is a local-only video broadcasting system.

An Extra Display Parent Unit or a Different Monitor System?

If connecting a baby monitor to your phone is paramount to your needs, there will be a list of the top three best-selling baby monitors that are internet capable and have an app. If you want to install an extra display parent unit to your already purchased HelloBaby monitor system, those instructions are below as well.

If you want to connect your baby monitor to your phone, you need a system other than HelloBaby because they don’t have an app and aren’t internet capable. You can buy an additional display parent unit if you want multiple, local, non-internet displays with a HelloBaby monitor.

One benefit of an app is that you are used to carrying around your phone rather than a baby monitor parent unit. However, a benefit to having a camera that isn’t connected through WiFi is that it can prevent hacking.

How to add a Separate Parent Unit to Your HelloBaby Monitor

Suppose an internet-capable app isn’t what you are looking for, or you just want to add another display parent unit to your already purchased HelloBaby monitor. In that case, these instructions will tell you how to add your cameras to your new parent unit.

  1. Press Menu
  2. Press the right or left arrow key until you highlight the Camera Icon
  3. Select your Camera from the list
  4. Press the up and down arrow and select Add Camera, then press OK
  5. An hourglass will appear on the parent unit’s LCD screen
  6. Unplug the power to the camera you are adding, and press and hold the Pair button on the camera unit
  7. While still holding the pair button, plug the power back into the camera unit
  8. Once paired, a Check Mark will appear on the screen
  9. Repeat steps if necessary

Top Internet-Enabled Baby Monitors with Apps

Listed below are the three best internet-enabled baby monitors with apps.

  • Wyze Cam Pan v2
  • Motorola PIP1510 Connect
  • Miku Pro Contact-Free Breathing and Sleep Tracking Monitor

Any three will get the job done if you only need an app. With each tier comes more features for your system.

Wyze Cam Pan v2 Baby Monitor

The Wyze Cam Pan v2 baby monitor has 1080p and can pan, tilt, and zoom in on a very small, compact camera system. Some other awesome features are:

  • Compatible with Alexa and Google Assistant, which means you can control it with voice commands.
  • It’s affordable, rated at 4.5 stars on Amazon, and its MSRP is $49.98.

One of the benefits and downside is that the Wyze Cam Pan v2 uses the Wyze app as its video monitor. That means that the camera system does not include a display parent unit. The only way to view the camera system is via the smartphone app. If the internet is down, you won’t be able to use local WiFi to view your camera system.

Motorola PIP1510 Connect Baby Monitor

The Motorola PIP1510 Connect baby monitor is probably the best entry on this list. The features that make it stand out are:

  • The Motorola Nursery app is internet-enabled, allowing viewing your cameras anywhere with a WiFi connection.
  • Works independently from an internet connection on your local WiFi network in case of an internet outage, assuring the continued use of your monitoring system.
  • Measures room temperature
  • Two-way audio
  • Plays lullabies through the camera

The Motorola PIP1510 currently has a 4-star rating on Amazon and retails for $189.99. A jump up in price, but it offers so much more.

The Miku Contact-Free Breathing & Sleep Tracking Monitor

The Miku Contact-Free Breathing & Sleep Tracking baby monitor is rated at 4-stars and costs $399.99 on Amazon. However, for that sum, you get some great features. Everything included above and then some

  • It manages contact-free breathing and sleep-tracking in its app without requiring any wearables on your little one.
  • It uses 256-bit encryption on its video stream so that the video of your little one is safe from prying eyes and hackers.
  • Sleep-tracking, breathing analysis, and sleep pattern data, and they do it all without a subscription, which is rare, even for smartwatches.

Conclusion

If using your phone is important to your baby’s monitoring needs, then HelloBaby is probably not the system for you. Another baby monitor system is probably required. If you already have a HelloBaby system and just want the ability to have more screens locally, then purchasing and installing an extra display parent unit for your system is quite easy.
