Setting up a universal remote is quick and easy, but you’ll need the correct code for your TV brand. Follow these steps to get your remote working in no time. I am demoing the set up process in the video below with an ‘Acoyer’ super generic universal remote:
Get the Remote Codes
- Find the list of remote codes for your specific TV brand.
- If you don’t have the codes, check the manual that came with the remote or search online for a universal remote code list.
Enter Setup Mode
- Insert two AAA batteries into the remote.
- Press and hold the Setup button for three seconds until the indicator light turns on.
Enter the TV Code
- Press the TV button (or the device button you’re programming).
- Enter the correct code for your TV brand using the number pad.
- Test the remote by pressing the Power button to see if the TV turns on.
Troubleshooting
- If the TV doesn’t respond, repeat the steps with the next code from the list.
- Once the correct code is entered, test the Volume and other buttons to ensure full functionality.
Your universal remote is now programmed and ready to use. If this guide helped, be sure to try it out and enjoy the convenience of controlling your devices with one remote!
