Changing your Yi Home Camera’s WiFi settings can be done quickly from the menu options within the Yi Home App under Device Settings and WiFi Settings.

If you change the WiFi Settings on your Yi Home App, your camera cannot access both networks. It can only use one network at a time.

Using your Yi Home Camera with a hotspot is possible, but it is recommended to use a landline-based network whenever possible.

It’s also possible you need a WiFi Extender to extend the range of your WiFi network to make sure that your camera can access your network.

Perform a Soft Reset on your Yi Home Camera

Sometimes a simple soft reset can work wonders on modern electronics. A soft reset is just pulling the power from a device and forcing it to reboot.

  1. Pull the power cable from your Yi Home Camera
  2. Wait 15 seconds
  3. Plug the power back in and wait 5 minutes
  4. Test your Yi Home Camera

A soft reset is called soft because it forces a restart cycle while saving your Yi Home Camera’s saved settings and information.

If that doesn’t work, you can reset the Yi Home Camera back to factory settings with a hard reset.

Perform a Hard Reset on your Yi Home Camera

A hard reset is like turning back time on your modern electronics. Sometimes modern electronics just get stuck and won’t work right.

The hard reset deletes all saved information and resets the device to factory settings. It will be as if you just purchased it and took it out of the box.

  1. Turn over your Yi Home Camera to the backside
  2. Get a small paperclip or small pin to press the reset button on the back of the camera located near the QR used to connect the camera to the Yi Home App
  3. Press and hold the reset button with the paperclip or small pin until a yellow LED comes on or a voice says, “Reset is successful”
  4. Your Yi Home Camera has now been factory reset
  5. Re-add your Yi Home Camera to your Yi Home App
  6. Test your Yi Home Camera

It is important to remember that performing a hard reset on your Yi Home Camera will result in losing all saved information.

You will also need to add your Yi Home Camera to the Yi Home App from scratch and set it up the same way you first purchased it.

Re-add your Yi Home Camera to your Yi Home App

Once you have reset your Yi Home Camera hard, you will need to re-add it to the Yi Home App.

  2. Power on the Yi Home Camera
  3. Tap the “+” icon in the upper-right corner of the screen
