If you want to enable subtitles or closed captioning while watching Tubi, it’s a straightforward process. Here’s how to do it, including an alternative method using your Roku or other streaming device.
Turning On Subtitles in Tubi
- Open Tubi: Launch the Tubi app on your streaming device.
- Play a Movie or Show: Select the content you want to watch and start playback.
- Pause the Video: Press the Pause button to bring up the playback menu.
- Select the Subtitles Icon: Look for the chat bubble icon in the bottom-right corner of the screen.
- Choose Subtitle Language:
- Select your preferred subtitle language (e.g., English or Spanish).
- Note that not all content on Tubi offers subtitles. If subtitles aren’t available, you may need to adjust settings on your streaming device.
How to Remove Subtitles from Tubi
Sometimes, you’ll turn on the TV and watch your favorite show only to discover that subtitles are already activated.
If you don’t like subtitles, this is an easy fix.
Look at the upper bottom-hand corner of the program you’re watching and click the CC icon.
If the icon is white, the subtitles are off. If the icon is orange, subtitles are on.
Can You Change Your Subtitle Language?
Another huge benefit of activating subtitles on Tubi is that you can watch shows in languages you’re not fluent in.
The closed captioning allows you to watch programs worldwide.
If you live in the United States and you’re watching Tubi, every show that isn’t in English will have English subtitles.
If you want to change your subtitles to a different language, you’ll have to change your settings to that language by following these steps.
- Open the settings menu on your device.
- Find your language settings.
- Choose the language you prefer.
- Confirm that you want to change your language.
- Close out of your settings menu and enter the Tubi application.
You can turn off these subtitles anytime you want.
Does Every Tubi Show Have Subtitles?
If you’re an English speaker and you find content that isn’t originally in English, there will be English subtitles.
Unfortunately, some videos on the application don’t enable subtitles.
However, Tubi tries to keep options without subtitles off your radar.
If you open a show and there’s no CC icon in the top right corner of the screen, then subtitles are not available for that program.
Tubi keeps the subtitles as accurate as possible to ensure people enjoy their viewing experience.
