When it comes to watching TV, a lot of people nowadays have “cut the cord,” so to speak. This means that more and more people are starting to turn to streaming. Streaming allows content to connect directly to your TV through an app or streaming device. 

So, what if you have decided to pay for Apple TV? That’s great! It could not be easier to install Apple TV on your Insignia TV. All you have to do is have a connection to the internet and install the Apple TV app. Below, you will learn how to do that on any model of Insignia TV, with or without a streaming device. 

Can I Download Apple TV on my Smart TV?

The first way to install Apple TV is through your Smart TV. Not all models of Insignia TV are considered “smart.” A Smart TV is a television that is integrated with the capability to use the internet.

While the Insignia Smart Roku and Connect TVs have all but been discontinued, the fact remains that they are still considered Smart TVs. 

When you have your Smart TV, it shouldn’t take very long to set up your Apple TV. All you have to do is follow these four simple steps:

  1. Connect your TV to the internet- you can usually do this best by going to Settings on your tv. It looks like a little gear, most of the time. Then, connect to your WIFI. You can also connect to your internet using an ethernet cable. 
  2. Go onto the App Store and search for Apple TV+.
  3. Log into your Apple TV or Apple TV+ Subscription- a subscription is $4.99 a month.
  4. Start watching!

How to Watch Apple TV on any Insignia TV

Now, what if you have an Insignia TV that isn’t considered “smart”? Are you just lost forever to the Dark Ages and doomed to roam the world connected to Cable TV? Absolutely not! This is where a Streaming Device will save the day. 

There are three main streaming devices that are commonly used:

  1. Roku Stick
  2. Amazon Fire Stick
  3. Apple TV 4K

The Roku and the Fire Sticks are both cheaper options and will work just as well as an Apple TV 4k. 

Once you have your streaming device, just follow these simple steps to get your Apple TV+ on any and all Insignia TVs:

  1. Locate your HDMI port. The HDMI port will allow your Roku, Fire Stick, or Apple TV 4k to send high-resolution images and content straight to your TV. 
  2. Plug in your streaming device to your HDMI port
  3. Switch the input to “HDMI.” 
  4. Search the channels for Apple TV+ 
  5. Install and Sign in! 

Once you have Apple TV installed on your Insignia TV, you can use other devices with it, such as the Nest Audio.

Can Gamers use Apple TV+ on Their Gaming Consoles?

The simple answer is yes. When it comes to Playstation, PS4 and PS5 both have those capabilities. You just go to the Media Hub for the PS5 or the TV and Video Section for the PS4. Then, you download it as you would on any other streaming device. 

The Xbox has three different versions that allow you to use it as a streaming device for the Apple TV+. Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S are all compatible with the Apple TV+ app. Just go to the Xbox Store App, and download it. Easy as 1,2,3!  After it’s installed, just go to “My games and apps” whenever you want to find it.

So Can you Watch Apple TV on Your Insignia?

There is absolutely no reason why you should not be able to watch Apple TV+ on your Insignia TV, no matter the model. 

If you have any of the models of Smart TVs, then just connecting to the internet will allow you to download and sign in to the app right there on your television. 

If your model is not considered a “smart” TV, you just need to use a streaming device. There are many makes and models of streaming devices. They are hooked up through your HDMI port and allow you to use them as a “third party” interface.
