How to Deactivate or Delete Your Instagram Account

If you’re ready to take a break or say goodbye to Instagram, here’s how to either deactivate or delete your account.

Steps to Deactivate or Delete Your Instagram Account

1. Open Instagram and go to your profile page (tap your icon on the bottom right).
2. Scroll down to Account Center in the Meta section.
3. In Account Center, go to Personal Details > Account Ownership and Control.
4. Choose Deactivation or Deletion.
5. Select the Instagram account you want to deactivate or delete.
6. You’ll have two options:
   • Deactivate: Temporary option, and you can reactivate anytime.
   • Delete: Permanent option, but you’ve got 30 days to change your mind if needed.
7. Pick a reason for deactivating or deleting (they may try to convince you to stay).
8. Enter your password and hit Continue to confirm.

That’s it! You’ve now either deactivated or deleted your Instagram account.
