Resetting your Kasa Smart Plug is a simple process. Whether you need a soft reset to retain settings or a factory reset to start fresh, these steps will guide you.
Types of Resets
- Soft Reset: Retains schedules and settings while resetting connectivity.
- Factory Reset: Erases all settings and restores the plug to factory defaults.
How to Perform a Soft Reset
- Press and Hold the Button:
- Locate the button on your Kasa Smart Plug.
- Press and hold it for 5 seconds.
- Wait for the Light to Blink:
- The indicator light will start blinking, signaling that the plug has entered setup mode.
- Reconnect via the Kasa App:
- Open the Kasa app and tap the plus sign (+) in the upper-right corner.
- Select Add a Device and choose your plug model (e.g., Smart Plug Mini).
- Confirm the plug is powered on and the light is blinking, then hit Next.
- Connect to the Plug’s Wi-Fi:
- On iPhone, swipe down to access Wi-Fi settings and select the TP-Link network.
- Return to the Kasa app and select I’m Already Connected.
- Choose to Keep Settings:
- When prompted, select the option to keep your settings if desired.
- Finalize Setup:
- Enter your home Wi-Fi network password to reconnect the plug.
- Save your device name, icon, and location.
How to Perform a Factory Reset
