If you’re looking to customize your alarm sound or make sure it’s loud enough to wake you, I’ve got you covered. Apple doesn’t let us change the default sound for all alarms yet, but here’s how to update individual alarms and adjust the volume to fit your needs.
How to Change Your Alarm Sound
- Open the Clock app: Start by opening the Clock app on your iPhone.
- Select an alarm: Find the alarm you want to edit. Tap on it to open the settings.
- Pick a new sound: Scroll to the Sound section. You can:
- Choose one of the default alarm tones.
- Select a song from your iTunes library to make it more personal. (Unfortunately, Spotify isn’t supported.)
- Save your changes: Once you’ve chosen your sound, tap Save.
How to Adjust Alarm Volume
- Open Settings: Go to the Settings app on your iPhone.
- Go to Sounds & Haptics: Scroll down and tap on Sounds & Haptics.
- Adjust the volume: Use the Ringtone and Alerts slider to make your alarms louder. This also controls ringtones and alerts. Even if your phone is on vibrate, the alarm will still ring at this volume.
While we wait for Apple to add an option to set a default alarm sound, these steps will help you manage your alarms and ensure you’re not caught off guard.
