Screen recording on a Mac is simple and works the same across all Mac models, whether you’re using a MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, or Mac Studio. Follow these steps to start recording your screen:
Using the Keyboard Shortcut
- Press Shift + Command + 5 on your keyboard.
- The screen recording toolbar will appear, offering the following options:
- Screenshot Options: Capture the entire screen, a specific window, or a selected portion.
- Record Options: Record the entire screen or a selected portion of it.
- Choose your desired recording option.
- Click the Record button to start recording.
- To stop recording, click the stop icon in the menu bar at the top of your screen.
Using the Options Menu
- In the toolbar, click Options to customize settings:
- Choose where to save the recording.
- Set a timer to delay the start of the recording.
- Select a microphone if you need to record audio or a voiceover.
Accessing Screen Recording Through QuickTime Player
- Open Finder and go to Applications.
- Locate and open QuickTime Player.
- In the QuickTime menu, click File > New Screen Recording.
- This brings up the same recording toolbar as the keyboard shortcut.
Once you finish recording, your video will be saved in the location you specified. Use this method to easily capture tutorials, presentations, or anything else on your Mac.
