If you’re looking to make your Facebook profile as private as possible, I’ve got you covered. In this guide, I’ll show you two ways to secure your account: a guided method using Facebook’s Privacy Checkup and a manual method for more granular control.

Method 1: Privacy Checkup (Guided)

  1. Open Settings
Open the Facebook app, go to the menu (bottom navigation bar), and tap the settings wheel at the top.
  2. Run Privacy Checkup
Scroll down to Tools and Resources and select Privacy Checkup. This tool walks you through the key areas to secure your account.
  3. Adjust Your Settings
    • Profile Info: Choose who can see your personal details (like your phone number or email). I recommend setting these to Only Me.
    • Posts and Stories: Change the audience for your posts and stories to Friends or create custom sharing lists.
    • Limit Past Posts: Hide older posts that you no longer want to be public—perfect for those embarrassing college moments.
    • Block List: Review or add people to your block list if you don’t want them interacting with your profile.

The Privacy Checkup is a great way to lock things down quickly while getting helpful suggestions.

Method 2: Manual Settings (Granular Control)

  1. Adjust Audience and Visibility
    • Go to Settings & Privacy > Audience and Visibility.
    • Here, you can control who sees your posts, profile info, and tagging permissions.
      • For example, you can set future posts to Friends, restrict who can tag you, or even limit profile posts to Only Me.
  2. Profile Privacy via Privacy Center
    • Open your profile, tap the three dots, and select Privacy Center.
    • This gives you another way to manage the same settings with a clean interface.
  3. Explore Meta’s Privacy Tools
    • Facebook’s Meta Privacy Center, found in your profile, lets you review settings and ensure everything is locked down.

By using the Privacy Checkup and manual settings, you can lock down your Facebook profile and keep your information secure.
