If you’re struggling to remove a device from the SmartThings app, you’re not alone. I just ran into this issue with one of my older Samsung TVs and finally figured out the solution. Here’s how you can delete a device, even if the usual options aren’t showing up.
Steps to Delete a Device from SmartThings
- Open the SmartThings App: Start by launching the app on your phone.
- Check the Three Dots:
- Select the device you want to remove.
- Tap the three dots in the top corner.
- If you see a Remove Device option, great—select it and confirm.
- If Remove Device isn’t showing (like in my case), move on to the next step.
- Go to the Devices Tab:
- Return to the app’s home screen.
- Tap the Devices tab at the bottom of the screen.
- Find and Select the Device: Locate the device you’re trying to remove from the list of devices.
- Remove the Device:
- Tap the three dots again.
- This time, you should see the Remove Device option.
- Select it and confirm the removal.
What to Expect
Sometimes the process works as expected from the device’s main menu, but for other devices, you may need to go through the Devices tab to delete them. This workaround can save a lot of frustration, especially if a device isn’t functioning or needs to be replaced.
And that’s it! Now you know how to delete a device from the SmartThings app.
