If you have a Samsung washer or dryer, you have probably noticed the little jingle that plays at the end of each cycle. It can get annoying, so can you change it or turn it off?
You can turn off the Samsung dryer song, but you cannot change the song. An asterisk will indicate the alarm button with the title “alarm.” Hold this button for 3 seconds to turn the alarm on or off.
Read on to find out how to turn it off for different models of dryers, even looking at the difference between gas and electric dryers.
How to Turn off the Samsung Dryer Song
The Samsung dryer song, or alarm as it is called in the manual, can be annoying.
There are multiple ways to turn off the alarm depending on which model and type of dryer you purchase from Samsung.
With either steam or without a steam dryer, there are a couple of different ways that you can turn off the alarm.
With/Without Steam | Damp Alert/ Wrinkle Prevent | Both |
With Steam | Damp Alert: Hold for 3 seconds | Smart Dial |
Without Steam | Wrinkle Prevent: Hold for 3 seconds | Smart Dial |
While you’re going to be changing up your settings with your Samsung dryer, many of them can now be paired with SmartThings with other smart home devices!
Below, look at a couple of different dryer models and see exactly how they turn off their “alarm” for the clothing cycles.
Steam Dryers
Samsung has several different steam dryers that you can turn off the song with:
- Smart Gas Dryer with Steam Sanitize+
- Smart Dial Gas Dryer with Super Speed Dry
- Ultra Capacity Electric Dryer with Super Speed Dry and AI Smart Dial
- Smart Electric Dryer with Steam Sanitize+.
These all have two different types of ways to turn off the alarm.
The Drum Light
In the models the Smart Gas Dryer with Steam Sanitize+ and the Smart Electric Dryer with Steam Sanitize+ turning on or off the alarm is fairly simple.
According to the user manual, you must hold down the Drum Light for 3 seconds.
You will see the bell icon light up on your display to know it has worked. You also may have to do this every time you turn on your dryer.
The Smart Dial
The Smart Dial is a little more of a different story. Both the gas and electric dryers have a smart dial feature.
For this, we are looking at the Smart Dial Gas Dryer with Super Speed Dry and the Ultra Capacity Electric Dryer with Super Speed Dry and AI Smart Dial.
The smart dial panel is set up very differently. So, turning on or off the alarm is going to look different. Let’s look at the steps:
- Push and hold the Options button for 3 seconds
- Use the dial to select Alarm, and press OK
- OK will turn the alarm off or on
It’s still not super complicated, but it is different from the previous dryers.
Without Steam Dryers
Looking at the gas and electric dryers without steam, we are going to look into three different ones Samsung has to offer:
- Gas Dryer with Senser Dry
- Electric Long Vent Dryer with Sensor Dry
- Electric Dryer with Sensor Dry.
These two steamless dryers have two different ways to turn the alarm on or off.
Remember: turning off the alarm only means that the cycle melody and power off sounds will stop.
Damp Alert
According to the manual, there is one way to turn the alarm on or off for the Electric Long Vent Dryer and the gas dryer models DVG45T6005*/DVG45T6000.
This can be completed by locating, pressing, and holding the Damp Alert button on the control panel for 3 seconds.
Wrinkle Prevent
In the model DVG45T3400* and the Electric Dryer with Senser Dry, you will look at the Damp Alert button instead of looking at the Wrinkle Prevent button.
Once more, press and hold for 3 seconds to activate or deactivate the alarm.
The alarm will stay in this position even when you turn off the dryer later.
Gas vs. Electric: What’s the Difference?
Now you may see that some are categorized as being either a gas or an electric dryer. So, what’s the difference?
A gas dryer is going to heat your clothes using gas or propane. An electric dryer uses metal coils that are heated up by electricity to dry your clothes.
Samsung has many types of gas dryers, including those that use steam and those that don’t.

Turning off the Alarm
In the end, there isn’t a way to change the sound of the tune (or alarm) when it comes to electric or gas dryers.
As for turning off the sound, there are multiple ways to accomplish this goal depending on the type. So whatever your Samsung dryer may look like, there is a way to make your dryer quieter.
