ITEAD, makers of the SONOFF line of smart home devices, have just announced a new home automation hub that operates locally, without need for internet access or cloud services. The SONOFF iHost supports the company’s own products as well as Zigbee-based devices.
In particular the device emphasizes security, keeping all home automation features and data stored locally. Matter support is expected later in the year.
The iHost comes in two models, one with a dual-core 1.5 GHz processor and 2 GB of RAM. The second model will feature a quad-core processor and 4 GB of RAM.
The suggested retail prices will be $80 for the 2 GB version and $100 for the 4 GB version. However, ITEAD is currently running pre-order promotions as low as $55 for the 2 GB model, and $70 for the 4 GB model.
Both models offer ethernet, WiFi, and Bluetooth Low Energy connectivity, USB Host port and MicroSD card slot for expansion, plugin support, and an open API for developers to work with.
The iHost is expected to begin shipping at the end of March.
