Your Google Home device is linked to the wrong account or needs to be assigned to a different location. You can fix these settings directly through the Google Home app.

  1. To remove a device, open the Google Home app, tap the devices tab, select your device, open settings, and tap remove device [0:42].
  2. To move a device to a different home or location, select the device in the devices tab, open settings, tap home, and choose your new destination from the list [1:43].
  3. To change the address of your entire home account, tap the settings icon on the main screen, select your address, and tap edit to update your current location details.

Ninja Tip: If you are selling a device, perform a factory reset on the hardware itself after removing it from the app to ensure your personal data is completely wiped. Most speakers and displays have a physical button or volume combination you can hold for ten seconds to trigger this process.

If the device is still failing to function correctly, you can perform a complete factory reset by checking the Settings menu on your specific hardware model.
