How to Disable ‘Double Click to Install’ and Passwords for Free iPhone Apps

Your iPhone currently requires a double-click or password confirmation every time you download a free app from the App Store. You can change your settings to bypass these prompts and speed up your downloads.
- Open your device Settings, tap Face ID & Passcode, and toggle off the switch for iTunes & App Store [0:49].
- Navigate back to the main Settings menu, tap Screen Time, and select Content & Privacy Restrictions [1:24].
- Tap iTunes & App Store Purchases and under the Require Password section, select Don’t Require [1:31].
- Power your iPhone off completely and then turn it back on to apply these new settings.
Ninja Tip: If you want to keep your account secure, you can also manage your password requirements for paid items separately by going to Settings > [Your Name] > Media & Purchases > Password Settings. This lets you keep free downloads frictionless while still requiring a password for any paid purchases.
If you find your settings aren’t sticking after a restart, ensure your software is up to date by checking Settings > General > Software Update.
