How to Delete Your Facebook Profile Picture

You currently have a profile picture on Facebook that you want to remove. You can delete this image from your account by following these steps.

1. Open your profile on the mobile app, tap your current profile picture, and select the “See profile picture” option. Once the photo opens, tap the three dots in the upper right corner and select “Delete photo” to confirm. [0:26]
2. To delete your picture on a desktop, open your profile page and click on your profile image to view it. Select “See profile picture,” click the three dots, and choose “Delete photo” to remove it from your profile.

Ninja Tip: Deleting your profile photo does not remove the image file from your Facebook account entirely, as it remains saved in your “Profile pictures” album. You can navigate to your Photos > Albums > Profile pictures to delete the image permanently if you want it gone from your account history.

If you are unable to remove your profile image through these settings, you may need to navigate to Settings & Privacy > Settings > Accounts Center > Personal details > Account ownership and control to check for account restrictions.
