You want to share a specific segment of a YouTube video with someone else. You can use the built-in Clip feature to isolate and send that exact portion.
- Play the video you want to share and skip past any advertisements [0:19].
- Scroll through the icons below the video player and select the Clip button, which is marked with a scissors icon [0:27].
- Use the slider on the timeline to define your clip, ensuring it is between 5 and 60 seconds long [0:44].
- Enter a required title for your clip and tap the Share Clip button to send it to others or copy the link to your clipboard [0:57].
- Access all of your saved clips later by going to your profile and opening the folder labeled Your clips.
Ninja Tip: If you are a creator and want to prevent others from clipping your content, go to YouTube Studio > Settings > Channel > Advanced settings and uncheck the box that says “Allow viewers to clip my content.”
If the Clip feature is missing, go to Settings > General > Account and ensure your app is fully updated to the latest version.
