Your Alexa device is currently speaking in a voice or language that you need to change. You can update these settings yourself through the Alexa app.

  1. Open the Amazon Alexa app on your smartphone and tap Devices at the bottom of the screen [0:31].
  2. Select Echo and Alexa and then tap the specific device you want to update [0:37].
  3. Tap the settings icon in the top right corner and scroll down to select Alexa’s voice [0:44].
  4. Choose your preferred voice option from the list, such as a different gender or a British accent [0:55].
  5. Scroll down to the Language section to select a new language from the available options [1:27].
  6. To add a celebrity voice, open your Amazon app and search for celebrity voices to purchase and enable them on your device.

Ninja Tip: You can set up an Alexa Profile for different household members so the device recognizes individual voices and switches to their preferred settings automatically. Check Settings > Your Profile in the app to manage this feature.

If these changes do not take effect, perform a factory reset by navigating to Settings > Device Settings > Factory Reset.
