How to Block Websites on an iPhone

If you’re looking to block certain websites on an iPhone—whether it’s your own or your kid’s—it’s a pretty simple process. I’ll walk you through the steps using Facebook as an example.

Steps to Block Websites

1. Open Settings: Start by opening the Settings app on the iPhone.
2. Go to Screen Time: Scroll down and select Screen Time.
3. Enable Content & Privacy Restrictions:
   • Tap on Content & Privacy Restrictions.
   • If this feature isn’t already on, toggle it to enable.
4. Find Web Content: Scroll down and tap on Web Content under the Content Restrictions section.
5. Choose a Restriction Option: You’ll see three options:
   • Unrestricted Access: Allows access to all websites.
   • Limit Adult Websites: Blocks known adult content and lets you customize specific sites.
   • Allowed Websites Only: Only allows access to pre-approved websites.
     Select Limit Adult Websites to block specific sites.
6. Add a Blocked Website: Under the Never Allow section:
   • Tap Add Website.
   • Type in the website URL you want to block (e.g., facebook.com) and tap Done.
7. Test the Block: Open Safari and try visiting the blocked site. The browser will display a message saying, “You cannot browse this page because it is restricted.”

Managing the Block List

• To remove a blocked website, go back to the Never Allow list in Screen Time, swipe left on the site, and tap Delete.
• If a website isn’t blocked properly, make sure the correct URL is entered and the restrictions are enabled.
