There are several different ways to keep tabs on personal items on the market these days. One of the more popular items is the Tile Mate because of its range and ease of use.

Depending on the conditions, the Bluetooth range of a standard Tile Mate is up to 150 feet, but it’s most effective at 30 feet. Tile has different products and the Tile Sticker has a range of up to 150 feet, the Tile Slim has a range of up to 200 feet and the Tile Pro has a range of up to 400 feet.

With the general range of the distance of a Tile Mate, what are some of its uses? Can it be attached to items other than just the typical keys, cellphones and wallets? How does the app work?

Can I Track a Tile Mate In My Car?

A Tile Mate can be used to track your vehicle. It’s incredibly common to forget where you’ve parked and a Tile Mate car tracker can greatly reduce time spent wandering around in search of your vehicle.

To use Tile to track your vehicle, simply place the Tile Mate in the glove box or under the car seat. After downloading the Tile app on your phone, you’ll have access to the Bluetooth finding features.

As long as you’re in Bluetooth range of your vehicle, you can tap the Find feature on the app to make your Tile ring. If you’re not within range, you can pull up your car’s last known location, which is most often where it’s been parked. With the Tile app having stored your car’s last known location, it will give directions to your vehicle.

How Does Tile Work?

To set up your Tile Mate, go to settings, then Bluetooth and search for the Tile Mate. Once found, connect to this device and it will use the location services of your smartphone to send location information to the accompanying Tile app.

How Do I Find My Tile Mate?

There are a few different ways to locate your Tile Mate. If the Tile Mate is within Bluetooth range, you can ring it from the Tile app or ask your Smart Home device to find it for you.

You can also go to the map feature within the Tile app and see the last known location of your Tile. If you have a Tile Mate attached to your phone, you can double press the logo on your Tile to make your phone ring, even if it’s on silent.

You can also use the Tile Network to help locate your Tile Mate. To do this, select “enable when found” to utilize the Tile Network in helping locate your item.

Tile also has a Circles to Find feature to use if the Tile Mate is out of hearing distance. When this is enabled, green circles will fill in as you get closer to your item. You can also use Find My Phone to locate your phone or tablet by double-tapping any of Tile’s buttons.

Another option to increase the odds of locating your item is the Share your Tile feature with a friend or family member to also help locate your Tile Mate.

The Tile Network

The Tile Network anonymously and automatically updates the location of other Tile products  on that owner’s account when you pass by in range of another Tile. While the Tile app is running, it’s looking for everyone else’s Tiles as well as yours.

Tile never sells or shares the personal data of anyone using Tile services or the Tile Network. To use the services of the Tile Network, select Notify when Found in the app and you will be notified when your Tile’s location is anonymously updated.

You won’t actually see the location of someone else’s Tile and they won’t be able to see yours because location updates are automatic and anonymous, making the Tile Network a secure system. If your Tile app locates someone else’s Tile or someone in the Tile Network finds the location of your Tile, you can send or receive an anonymous thank you for finding the lost Tile, but the location is not shared.

The Tile Network extends beyond just Tile users. Friends, family and other trusted sources can download and run the free Tile app. With every person added, you get another 100 feet or more of finding range.

Uses for Tile Mate
