Internet is a must-have in this day and age. This means setting up an account with your local internet provider and having someone come out and set up a modem. Still, there are times when we want to have the internet at different locations, whether we are moving or just happen to own another address. So can you use your Xfinity account at another location?
You cannot use your Xfinity account at another location. You can manage multiple Xfinity accounts using one Xfinity ID. If you’re moving, you can contact Xfinity and have them transfer your services to a new location.
Keep on reading to learn how you can work to use your Xfinity with multiple locations. If you are constantly on the go, consider using an Xfinity Mobile Hotspot.
Having Xfinity at Two Locations
Having two locations with Xfinity is possible, just not under one account. You do it by creating a secondary account for that location. Once you do that, they will give you an Xfinity ID to manage both of your accounts. You can do this by:
- Create an Xfinity ID
- Add and invite users to your Xfinity account
- Confirm the invitation on your phone or through your email
- Link the accounts
- Sign in with your Xfinity ID
It’s just that simple. Keep reading to learn exactly how to do these steps
Add and Invite Users to Xfinity Account
Before linking your accounts, you will need to send an invitation from the primary account to the secondary account. Once you do that, you will receive an invite via email or even a text message.
Confirm your Invitation
Go to where you sent the invite, and open the invitation. This will have you type in some additional information just to prove you are who you say you are. These are things like your street address and other pertinent information.
Link your Accounts
From there, you can click the Link Accounts button. It will prompt you to sign in with your Xfinity ID.
Afterward, it will have you double-check and confirm that you do want to link these accounts.
Ultimately, it will ask you if you have a preference on which account you want to view as it opens every time. This would be the time to select one and click the Remember this Selection box. Now you can watch TV at both locations with your Xfinity.
No Xfinity ID, no Problem
You can still link them together if you do not have an Xfinity ID. You will just need to go into the settings of one of your accounts.
It will have you add in close to the same manner; you just have to go through the account details to do it. Plus, if you ever want to unlink the accounts, just go into the Account Details again and choose to unlink them.
Transferring your Service
In regards to transferring your service in the event of a move, that is simple. It used to be that you had to call the service and let them know when you would be moving. Now it is all completely online. If you want to talk to someone, you can also go to the Xfinity storefront.
Go into your account and confirm your move dates. If you can bring your equipment with you, schedule a technician to come out and help install everything for you. This takes one more thing off your plate, or you can just install the internet yourself if that’s what you prefer.
In the case you are not able to bring the equipment, you are going to have to send the equipment back. This can happen one of three ways:
- Set up an “equipment return” on the website
- Take the equipment to UPS and ship it back
- Take it straight to an Xfinity store
Plus, if you ever need to change anything from an email to a phone number, just go into your settings and get that changed.
Creating an Xfinity ID
For most of these things, you will notice that it is recommended that you have an Xfinity ID. This is a great way for you to manage your accounts.
- Go to xfinity.com/getstarted and click where it has you create an ID
- Verify account information as well as a phone number (you can choose your social security number, but it makes you give a phone number either way)
- Enter an email, and Comcast will send you your link to get your Xfinity ID
Having an Xfinity Account for Two Locations
So, is it really possible to have two locations for one Xfinity account? No, that’s not something Xfinity allows. Still, they make it really easy to link accounts, so you don’t need to have two locations on one account.
Think of your account as a solitary address. Each account is just one address. Still, as the owner, you are allowed, under your Xfinity ID, to link those accounts together so that you can see them both under one umbrella ID. While it is not the perfect solution, it is a great workaround.
