For your own safety, the safety of your family, and all your belongings in your house, you have decided to install a smart security camera. You have a Eufy Floodlight camera on your porch or backyard, but you’ve noticed it is not recording movement around the property. Why is this happening? And most importantly, how can you fix it?

There are several reasons that could be preventing your Eufy Floodlight camera from recording any footage. Unstable power supply, Wi-Fi connectivity issues, limited storage, and improper setup are some of the most common. All of these can be easily checked and fixed.

Below, we will discuss everything you need to know to ensure your Eufy Floodlight camera is operational when needed. Keep reading to learn more!

Why is My Eufy Floodlight Camera Not Recording?

Having a security camera that does not record any events defeats the device’s purpose. You want the camera to activate and record every time someone is wandering in front of it for safety purposes or to have a record of events of interest.

You are wondering why your Eufy Floodlight camera is not recording when someone moves in front of the sensor. Maybe you just installed it recently and haven’t been able to get it to work, or perhaps you’ve had it for a while and it just stopped working like it used to. Whatever the case may be, the most common reasons for this problem include:

  • The camera is not getting power
  • The camera is not connected to Wi-Fi
  • The built-in storage is full
  • The camera is not properly setup

All of these are very common issues that can be resolved easily. Now, we will investigate how to determine which problem it is and how to fix it.

Ensure Your Camera is Powered

While some Eufy security cameras rely on a battery, all Eufy Floodlight models must be directly connected to the power grid. These include:

If your camera is not recording video, the issue could be coming from improperly-connected wiring. To check if your Eufy Floodlight security camera is being sufficiently powered, check if the LED on the front part of the camera is on. If the wiring seems to be properly connected, but the light is still off, check if there are any disconnected switches in the switch box that might be causing the issue.

Check for Wi-Fi Connectivity

Your Eufy Floodlight camera may have been disconnected from your Wi-Fi network due to a power outage or a change in the Wi-Fi password. Without internet connectivity, Eufy smart cameras will not record any events.

You can reconnect the camera to your Wi-Fi network through your smartphone or tablet. First, connect your phone to Wi-Fi and open the eufySecurity app. Then, follow these steps:

  • Under the “Device” tab, click “Add a Device.”
  • Scan the QR code on the bottom of your Floodlight camera or add the serial number manually.
  • Press the “SYNC” button on the camera for two seconds, or until you hear a “beep” and the LED flashes white.
  • Tap the white flashing button on the app and select your Wi-Fi network.
  • Name the camera on the app.

Now, your Eufy Floodlight camera is connected to your Wi-Fi network. Try making some kind of movement in front of the camera and see if it begins recording.

Clear the Built-in Memory Card

All Eufy Floodlight cameras include a non-upgradable built-in memory. Depending on the model you have and how often the camera is triggered daily, this memory should last between 20 and 30 days.

To access the recordings from the app, click “Events” on the homepage. Now, you can delete all unnecessary recordings to free up some storage space. You could also choose to clear the entire memory by following these steps:

  • Open the eufySecurity app.
  • Go to “Settings” in the “Device” tab.
  • Click “Camera Settings.”
  • Select “Storage.”
  • Choose “Clear Storage.”

Keep in mind that this will permanently erase all recordings. If you want to keep any clips, we recommend downloading them from the “Events” tab.

Reconfigure the Camera Settings

If none of the above tips helped your Eufy Floodlight camera begin recording movement around your home, your next course of action should be reconfiguring your camera’s settings. To make sure the camera is properly set up to start recording whenever motion is sensed, follow the steps below:

  • Open the eufySecurity app.
  • Go to “Settings” under the “Device” tab.
  • Click “Camera Settings.”
  • Select “Camera On.”
  • Go back to “Camera Settings.”
  • Select “Motion Detection,” then turn the sensitivity all the way up.
  • Go back to the home screen and select the “Security” tab.
  • Click on “Home/Away mode.”
  • Make sure the “Record Video” checkboxes are selected.

Now, your Eufy Floodlight camera is properly set up to record any motion detected.

Wrapping Up

Ensuring your security camera is recording is vital in keeping your home safe. If your Eufy Floodlight camera is not recording, you will need to ensure your camera is properly powered, connected to Wi-Fi, has enough storage space, and is set up to record as you want.
