Bixby is a pretty fantastic tool that is available on almost all Samsung products, including your television. As a voice-controlled virtual assistant, Bixby can answer your questions and control your television so you can have uninterrupted entertainment without lifting a finger. If you are excited to use this feature but are having a hard time making it work, there are several problems you may be encountering.

Bixby may not be working on your Samsung TV for one of the following reasons:

  • Your TV is not compatible with Bixby.
  • The TV needs a software update.
  • Your Smart remote is malfunctioning.
  • The cache on your TV needs to be cleared.
  • The voice recognition settings are not set up properly.

While it’s helpful to know that there are several possible problems you could be encountering, it’s much more important that you learn how to figure out exactly what is going on with your Samsung TV, and most importantly, how to fix it. In this article, we are going to go through each probable issue, how to find out if that is your problem and the simple solutions for each one.

Why Is Bixby not Working on my Samsung TV?

If the Bixby voice-controlled virtual assistant is not working on your Samsung TV, don’t worry! The majority of problems that your TV is probably facing are incredibly easy to fix right from your couch!

Before we go ahead and solve your problem, let’s go through the most common problems again:

  • Your TV is not compatible with Bixby.
  • The TV needs a software update.
  • Your Smart remote is malfunctioning.
  • The voice recognition settings are not set up properly.

While we are going to step through each problem and solution, if you already know what is wrong with your Samsung TV, feel free to skip ahead to that section.

Your TV is not Compatible with Bixby

The unfortunate news is, although most Samsung products now come equipped with Bixby capabilities, your specific model may not allow it.

The good news is, there’s a very simple way to find out! If your Samsung TV was manufactured after 2018, it has Bixby compatibility, in fact, it already has it installed.

If your television was manufactured before 2018, it is not compatible with Bixby. It’s just that simple.

Your Samsung TV Needs a Software Upgrade

When it comes to upgrades, most of us usually press the “Remind Me Later” option, however, any device that is in need of an upgrade, including Samsung TVs, can start having problems if you never click “Upgrade Now.”

In order to check if your Samsung TV needs a software upgrade, just follow these simple steps:

  • Press the MENU button on your Samsung remote.
  • Navigate to SETTINGS.
  • Select UPDATE NOW.

If there are any available software updates, your TV will run them automatically, and the process usually takes about ten minutes.

After the TV resumes operations, if the Bixby still isn’t working, well then it wasn’t a software problem, but at least now your TV is functioning at the highest possible capacity.

Your Samsung Smart Remote is Malfunctioning

Bixby voice commands work through your Samsung remote, so there is a chance that it is simply a problem with the remote itself, not the television.

The most likely cause of a remote malfunction is dead or dying batteries. You may want to try replacing the batteries and your Bixby problem may be solved in moments!

Remember to use the correct type of batteries and put them in properly in order to ensure the remote is working correctly.

Change the Voice Recognition Settings

Another reason that the Bixby feature may not be functioning correctly is due to a lack of voice recognition.

Many users have reported that changing the settings on the voice recognition to either another language or country, then returning it to the selection of your choice, will help reset the software.

To do so, you will need to use your Samsung remote and follow the directions listed below:

  • Click the MENU button on the remote.
  • Find LANGUAGE, change the option, then once again click your preferred choice.

Bixby may just be working perfectly now! Sometimes it’s the simplest of solutions that actually solve the problem.

Final Thoughts

When it comes to technology, knowing how to fix a problem yourself can make your life a whole lot easier.

Now you know how to find out the answer to your question why is Bixby not working on my Samsung TV, and more importantly, what you can do to fix it!

However, if none of the proposed solutions above solve the issue and you still cannot get Bixby to work, it is probably time to reach out for help from Samsung support.
