Bixby is a pretty fantastic tool that is available on almost all Samsung products, including your television. As a voice-controlled virtual assistant, Bixby can answer your questions and control your television so you can have uninterrupted entertainment without lifting a finger. If you are excited to use this feature but are having a hard time making it work, there are several problems you may be encountering. 

Bixby may not be working on your Samsung TV for one of the following reasons: 

  • Your TV is not compatible with Bixby. 
  • The TV needs a software update.

  • The cache on your TV needs to be cleared.

If your television was manufactured before 2018, it is not compatible with Bixby. It’s just that simple. 

Your Samsung TV Needs a Software Upgrade

When it comes to upgrades, most of us usually press the “Remind Me Later” option, however, any device that is in need of an upgrade, including Samsung TVs, can start having problems if you never click “Upgrade Now.” 

In order to check if your Samsung TV needs a software upgrade, just follow these simple steps:

  • Press the MENU button on your Samsung remote. 
  • Navigate to SETTINGS.
  • Click SUPPORT, then SOFTWARE UPDATE.
  • Select UPDATE NOW.

If there are any available software updates, your TV will run them automatically, and the process usually takes about ten minutes. 

After the TV resumes operations, if the Bixby still isn’t working, well then it wasn’t a software problem, but at least now your TV is functioning at the highest possible capacity. 

Your Samsung Smart Remote is Malfunctioning

Bixby voice commands work through your Samsung remote, so there is a chance that it is simply a problem with the remote itself, not the television. 

The most likely cause of a remote malfunction is dead or dying batteries. You may want to try replacing the batteries and your Bixby problem may be solved in moments! 

Remember to use the correct type of batteries and put them in properly in order to ensure the remote is working correctly. 

Change the Voice Recognition Settings

Another reason that the Bixby feature may not be functioning correctly is due to a lack of voice recognition.

Many users have reported that changing the settings on the voice recognition to either another language or country, then returning it to the selection of your choice, will help reset the software. 

To do so, you will need to use your Samsung remote and follow the directions listed below: 

  • Click the MENU button on the remote. 
  • Click SYSTEM and then VOICE RECOGNITION.
  • Find LANGUAGE, change the option, then once again click your preferred choice. 

Bixby may just be working perfectly now! Sometimes it’s the simplest of solutions that actually solve the problem.
