Why Can’t I Login into My DIRECTV Stream Account?

It’s DirecTV Stream login troubleshooting time! We’re here to help you get logged in and watch DirecTV as soon as possible. Why can’t you log in to your DIRECTV STREAM account?

There are multiple reasons why it may be difficult to log in to a DIRECTV STREAM account. Any of the following could be a reason for an unsuccessful login:

  • The user ID or password associated with DIRECTV STREAM has any typos
  • The password or user ID was forgotten or needs to be changed
  • There is a 20001 or 20002 error code
  • Six unsuccessful login attempts were made so the account is locked

You Have the Wrong User ID or Password

One of the most common reasons someone can’t access their DIRECTV STREAM account is because they forgot their password or user ID associated with the account.

The easiest way to check this is with DIRECTV support for user IDs. If you forgot your user ID and need DIRECTV support to get it, the easiest thing to do go online to DIRECTV’s website or call DIRECTV for help with this.

You Need to Change Your Password

One of the easiest ways to solve a login issue is by simply creating a new password to login into your DIRECTV STREAM account. At that point, you should be able to successfully log in because a new password is similar to resetting the account.

And you can change a DIRECTV STREAM password from the DIRECTV website or from your mobile phone. Here’s how:

  • From DIRECTV.com, choose Sign In and then go to Watch Now
  • Click on Forgot password?
  • You will be prompted to enter your associated account email and your last name.
  • An email with the information you need will be sent to the email associated with your account.

You will be able to then reset the information you forgot and log in successfully after that.

You Forgot Your User ID

One of the easiest ways to solve a login issue is by getting the proper user ID to log into your DIRECTV STREAM account. At that point, you should be able to successfully log in because you should be prompted with the user ID associated with your account.

And you can change a DIRECTV STREAM password from the DIRECTV website or from your mobile phone. Here’s how:

  • From DIRECTV.com, choose Sign In and then go to Watch Now
  • Click on Forgot User ID?
  • You will be prompted to enter your associated account email.
  • An email with the information you need will be sent to the email associated with your account.

You will be able to then be able to log in successfully after that.

You Have a 20001 or 20002 Error Code

Another common reason people can’t log into their DIRECTV STREAM service is that they are receiving an error code. Some of the most common error codes are the 20001 or the 20002 error codes.

The following is a list of possible error codes and their meanings:

  • 20001-001, 20001-002 and 20001-003: These codes mean that it looks like something went wrong. You will be prompted to try again later.
  • 20001-021 & 20001-022: For your protection when you see these codes, your user ID has been temporarily locked. The only way to unlock it is by resetting your password. 
  • 20002-001 & 20002-018: For your protection when you see these codes, you have been signed out of your account. You will be prompted to sign in again.
  • 20002-003: These codes mean it looks like there is an issue with your account. You will be prompted to sign in to your online account again.

With this knowledge, you can better understand why you are seeing certain codes when trying to sign in. Please note that if you are seeing a different error than the ones above you should contact customer service for help.

You Have Tried Logging In Too Many Times

You may have tried to log into your DIRECTV STREAM account too many times. At that point, your account is locked.

After six failed login attempts your account is locked for one hour. You will need to wait and come back after an hour to try and log into your account again. During this time, it may be helpful to call DIRECTV STREAM’s customer service line to help you in resetting your account information.
