What is the Best Eufy Camera for Porches?
Your porch is where everything goes down outside of your home. It’s where your packages get delivered and where everyone approaches your door. If you have a porch in the back, it’s where your family gathers for just about any outdoor event. If you’re interested in investing in a new Eufy camera, you may be wondering which is the best option for this area of the home.
The best Eufy cameras for a porch are the Eufy Video Doorbell or the Eufy Dual, which has two built-in cameras to observe both people and the packages delivered to your home.
In case you aren’t interested, or you already have a video doorbell, Eufy also has a delivery box option and the EufyCam 2 Pro, which has the widest camera field-of-view and 2k HD resolution so you can capture everything that happens on the porch. Read on to learn more!
The Eufy Dual is a unique new concept in the video doorbell market as it has two cameras. One camera catches everything happening on the porch, while a second camera—angled downwards—monitors your delivered package.
Being a new innovation from Eufy, the Eufy Dual is not available until early February 2022, which is right around the corner. However, you’ll really like the features that it has to offer:
- Two cameras, with one for approaching people and one to guard your package
- An adjustable, live view so you can pan and track on your smartphone
- Package guard
- The downward camera has a 120° FoV at 1080p
- The forward camera has a 160° FoV at 2k resolution
- Dual motion detection with PIR and radar
- 6-month battery
The first camera has an HD resolution of 2560 x 1920, and the smaller bottom camera has an HD resolution of 1600 x 1200. It’s Eufy’s response to the notorious blindspot which exists with all doorbell cameras that have a wide view, and now, you will be able to see everything.
It makes the Eufy Dual an exceptional device that is easily going to be the best security camera for your front porch. In terms of large backyard porches, it won’t make much sense to use a Eufy Dual, but that doesn’t mean that Eufy doesn’t have an answer for that as well.
The EufyCam 2 Pro is Eufy’s premier camera in terms of a standalone device. It has the highest resolution the Eufy offers—which is 2k—and it also has the widest field-of-view, which is very important if you have a large or wide porch.
There is a lot to love about the 2 Pro as a porch camera, and it’s loaded with features:
- 12-month battery
- 2k resolution
- Advanced night vision with high photosensitivity
- IP67 weatherproof rating
- Smart image enhancement
- Real-time response
- Human detection
- Adjustable activity zones and motion sensitivity
- Smart integration with Apple Homekit, Alexa, and Google Assistant
- Mobile alerts/notifications
In short, this is one of the best cameras in Eufy’s lineup, and if you install it for your porch, you will have a crystal clear view, night or day, of everything that comes and goes. The built-in AI knows the difference between humans and everything else as well, so you only get the notifications that matter.
This is probably the best camera in Eufy’s lineup if you have a really large porch or you are looking for something that will cover your back porch in terms of security. There’s not much that this camera is going to miss.
This is one of the more innovative products that Eufy Offers. If your primary purpose for a porch camera is to deal with incoming packages and deliveries, you may want to consider the Eufy SmartDrop:
- 1080p HD Camera
- Motion detection
- Delivery notifications
- Pin code unlock
- Two-way audio
- Very large and spacey
The SmartDrop is designed to simultaneously provide a space for couriers to place your packages and monitor activity on your front porch. You get real-time notifications whenever someone approaches, and you can speak through the box with two-way audio via the smartphone app.
If the box is empty, the courier can simply press the “Open” button on the outside, drop your package off, and walk away. The box will hold your package securely until you arrive and unlock it through a traditional key or by entering your PIN.
It’s an innovative device with the only drawback being that it has a wide view and, like many doorbells with a wide view, doesn’t catch anything that happens below the picture. However, since the courier is dropping the package in the box, that problem is mostly negligible.
All three of the above devices are great fits for porch areas, whether it’s in the front or the back. While the Eufy Dual hasn’t hit the market yet, it’s an exciting new doorbell from a company known for excellent hardware and software.
