Google recently leaked their Google Nest Hub to the world. Whether it was by accident or on purpose, it’s certainly generated some buzz. It was accidentally listed on Google Store and quickly went down after being posted. Android Police grabbed a screenshot before it was taken down.

What are the differences between the Google Nest Hub and the Google Home?

Here are some speculations we can make right now:

Nest Hub Max Google Home Hub
Screen10-Inch HD Screen7-Inch Screen
Camera OptionBuilt In Nest Camera No Camera
Video CallDuo No Video Call
Compatibility Nest Compatibility* No Nest Compatibility
Other FeaturesMotion/Sound AlertsN/A

The two biggest takeaways are the larger 10-inch screen and built-in Nest camera.

As you can see from the screenshot, it mentions:

  • The Nest Hub Max (new name)
  • Nest Cam Outdoor (suggesting native compatibility to Nest Cameras)
  • Shows an image of the Nest Hello doorbell!

Since the Google Nest Hub hasn’t been released yet, a lot of this is speculation.

But these are the guesses I have for the potential features the Google Nest Hub could have:

  • Nest Compatibility into Google Nest Hub
    • Nest Cameras
    • Nest Thermostats
    • Nest Hello Doorbell
    • And More
  • Nest App Built-in
  • Improved Speaker
  • Nest Camera Built-In

We would suspect that with rebranding to include “Nest” in the name of the new hub, there would be a lot of Nest integrations into the hub.

That’s about all we can say for sure according to the images that were leaked.

Bigger Screen

Google Home Hub

The Google Home Hub brought a lot to the table with his cool photo album design, but we feel like it had a huge fatal flaw – a small screen. It’s so small that watching videos on it for long periods of time isn’t that realistic.

The Nest Hub Max supposedly has an improved 10-inch screen compared to Google Home Hub’s 7-inch screen.

The Google Home Hub Specs are pretty light weight:

  • Weighs roughly 17 ounces
  • Dimensions: 7 inches by 4.5 inches
  • Depth of 2.65 inches

Expect the Nest Hub Max to pack a slightly bigger punch in size and weight.

The ‘Nest Hub Max’ seems to be a combination of the Google Home Hub plus a Nest Cam. Paired with the screen displaying Nest video streams could be a pretty sweet deal.

There were also a lot of complaints about the speaker quality of the original Google Home Hub, so an upgrade to the speaker would be obvious.

As of now, it is too soon to tell.
