My Arlo Doorbell Is Not Capturing Deliveries

Arlo is a wired security doorbell camera with a 180-degree view. It’s perfect for seeing who is at your door and you might be walking by your house when you’re not there. It’s also perfect for seeing packages on the ground. This way you can see who is bringing your packages and where they are leaving them. 

If your Arlo Doorbell is not capturing deliveries, you will need to check your settings to make sure the package alert toggle is on. You might also need to reset or reboot the doorbell if it’s not working properly. 

If your doorbell is not capturing deliveries, you could risk getting a package stolen or not knowing when a package is delivered. In this article, we will go over all the troubleshooting tips if your Arlo Doorbell is not capturing deliveries. We will also go over some tips to ensure your doorbell doesn’t stop working in the future. 

Why Isn’t My Arlo Doorbell Not Capturing Deliveries? 

There can be several reasons why your Arlo Doorbell might not be capturing deliveries. Most are simple fixes that you can do yourself in just a few minutes. 

Check the Settings 

In the Arlo app, there are toggles for smart alerts. This lets you turn on alerts for people, animals, packages, and a few other things. If the package toggle is not on, your video doorbell will not capture deliveries. 

Follow these steps to turn on package toggle:

  1. Go into your Arlo app.
  2. Click Settings. 
  3. Click Smart Notifications.
  4. Select Arlo Video Doorbell. 
  5. Choose Adjust Toggles. 
  6. Turn the toggle on for package alerts. 

Turn the Setting Off and On Again

If it’s already on but your video doorbell isn’t working, try toggling it off and then back on. You can follow these steps:

  1. Toggle the package alert toggle off if it’s already on. 
  2. Shut down the app. 
  3. Wait a few minutes. 
  4. Open the app backup. 
  5. Go back into Settings. 
  6. Click Adjust Toggles.
  7. Turn the toggle for package alerts back on.

You might also need to check the subscription settings. 

Checking Your Subscription 

If you notice the doorbell stopped working after you updated your subscription, you might need to recheck that your video doorbell is added to the Arlo Smart Plan. Follow these steps:

  1. Download the Arlo app on your smartphone or device. 
  2. Log into your account. 
  3. Click Settings. 
  4. Click Subscription. 
  5. Click Manage Cameras. 

Make sure to add the camera you want to capture deliveries to the list of your cameras under your smart plan. Keep in mind even if they were added to a previous subscription, they usually need to be readded anytime you upgrade your plan. 

If these steps didn’t work, you might need a reboot. 

Rebooting Your Arlo Video Doorbell 

Rebooting your video doorbell will just turn off your doorbell and then turn it back on. It will not reset your settings or the way you have the camera set up. There are two ways you can reboot the video doorbell

App Reboot

Here’s how to reboot your Arlo video doorbell using the app:

  1. Go into your Arlo app on your smart device. 
  2. Click Doorbell Device Card Settings. 
  3. Scroll all the way down to the bottom. 
  4. Click Restart. 

Now, let’s look at the manual reboot.

Manual Reboot

If you don’t have the app or can’t use it, you can turn the doorbell off directly from the source:

  1. Turn the power off to the breaker. 
  2. Wait 10-15 minutes. 
  3. Turn the doorbell back on. 

Sometimes a reboot doesn’t work, and you might need to completely reset the doorbell. 

Factory Reset your Arlo Doorbell 

If you have tried all the steps above, the last resort should be to factory reset the doorbell. This will erase all your settings and make your Arlo doorbell fresh like it’s right out of the box. Follow these steps:

  1. Locate the release pin that came with your Arlo Doorbell. If you can’t find it, use a paperclip or similar object. 
  2. Press and hold the reset button on the back of the doorbell for about 15 seconds. 
  3. Make sure the LED light on the device flashes white. This signals that it’s starting the reset process. 

Now the doorbell is reset.

Add Your Device Back On

After the reset, it won’t be on your account anymore. You will need to add it to the account and reset the package alerts option to make sure it works. Use these steps:

  1. Log into the Arlo app. 
  2. Tap Add New Device. 
  3. Choose Arlo Video Doorbell. 
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions. 

You can also use the Arlo website if you don’t have the app. If none of these options work, you might want to consider contacting Arlo support
