Is Echo Studio Good For Home Theater? Read This First!

Echo Studio is Amazon’s larger speaker, which provides more bang for its buck than the classic Echo. It is a great device to give a little more sound to your house and still provide the same features as the original design but is it good for a home theater system?

This all depends on what you are looking for and what your demands are for this speaker. It can be a great addition to your home theater system, both as a speaker and a smart device. However, there are some times when you might find yourself desiring more.

There are many things you should consider when you are thinking about adding the Echo Studio to your home theater system. Here is everything you need to know.

Is Echo Studio Good For Home Theater?

An ambitious design by Amazon to go with a larger, more powerful speaker, it isn’t an all-encompassing surround system. You don’t want to replace an entire system with this speaker as it doesn’t provide the same enveloping feeling as a surround system.

On its own, you will find it lacking in sound because it is a smaller speaker and doesn’t provide the base that a subwoofer provides. This is why Amazon pushed out an Echo Subwoofer to supplement those who want to use both for a sound system.

The Echo Studio is still one speaker, and although a great new version of the classic Echoes, it still has a lot of improvement. Many improvements should be made to make a better, compact surround system.

Can The Echo Studio Replace A Sound Bar?

If you use only a soundbar as the speakers for your TV, the Echo Studio is a step up. It does provide enough bang for its buck that you can use this device and not feel like it is lacking. Plus, it is nice to have a smart device to replace a soundbar.

Complaints About The Echo Studio

There have been several complaints about the Echo Studio as an addition to your home theater system. Here are some of the top complaints of the Echo Studio:

  • Speaker cuts out.
  • The sound isn’t distinct.
  • Lack of support.
  • You can’t adjust calibrations.
  • 3D music is lacking.
  • Larger than other smart speaker devices.

Speaker Cuts Out

One complaint is that it cuts out sometimes, disrupting the enjoyment of the music, show, or movie. This can happen and if it does, contact Amazon right away. You may have a warranty to get it replaced.

If you can’t get it replaced, you can try a hard reset and see if this will help. If not, the speaker within the device may have blown. This can sometimes happen, especially when playing the volume at max capacity.

Sound Isn’t Distinct.

It has been said that the sound isn’t is as distinct as a surround system. You will find that the sound is lacking in larger rooms like those with vaulted ceilings or large parameters. The Echo Studio thrives better in smaller rooms or smaller areas.

Lack Of Support

Unlike other systems, this one doesn’t have as much support through Amazon as other devices. You can’t modify the speaker to what you feel is the best for the room, and many questions are often unanswered on forums.

Can’t Adjust Calibrations

One major downfall for the Echo Studio is that it doesn’t have a way to calibrate it without resetting the device completely. You cannot log into the application and manually adjust the sound to your liking.

This lack of calibration option defers many other devices and surround systems to adjust it to what you think sounds best. If you want this option, this is not the best choice for you as you just have to trust the device does the best calibration. It is automated, and the only thing you can do is change its location if you don’t like the sound.

3D Music Is Lacking

Many have said that 3D music is lacking. When you try to listen to 3D music, it sounds more like a demo and doesn’t seem to be attainable at the moment. If you want the aesthetic of 3D music, you may want to think twice when it comes to these speakers.

Larger Than Other Smart Speakers

Although larger means that it can produce more sound, it also means that it is much bulkier than other smart speakers. It is compact compared to a surround system, but if you want something a little conspicuous, you may not find it with this device.

Many benefits come with having a smart speaker who can also be said with the Echo Studio, but it may not be the best option as a home theater option. If you indulge in the all-encompassing sound, you may find it better to get a surround sound system until the technology can improve.
