Your Smart TV is the epicenter of your entertainment spaces. Having it come with a Bluetooth feature adds to it. This allows you to be able to add other devices to enhance your TV watching experience.

Is a Smart TV Bluetooth compatible? Yes. Most Smart TVs do come with Bluetooth capabilities that grant you access to wirelessly connect:

  • Headphones
  • Remotes
  • Speakers

If you have an older Smart TV that does not have this feature and you now wish to change, there are plenty of options for you to choose from. Knowing how to check your Smart TV for this feature can open up the door for you to add more devices to your space.

How Can I Check My Smart TV?

Your Smart TV says that it is Bluetooth compatible, but you are not sure how to check to see if it is? If your TV came with a Smart Remote, it must use Bluetooth to work.

When looking for your Bluetooth settings:

  • Click on Settings
  • Search under Sound or Remote and Accessories.
  • Next, select Sound Output or Add Accessory.

This will allow you to see that you are capable of adding other devices that are Bluetooth compatible. Now that you see your TV is capable of adding Bluetooth devices, what devices can you add?

What Devices Can I Use With My TV?

There are a number of devices that you can add to your Smart TV that will enhance your entertainment space. Note that the devices you want to connect to your TV must also be Bluetooth compatible.

  • Headphones
  • Hearing Aids
  • Soundbars
  • Speakers
  • Gamepads
  • Controllers
  • Keyboards
  • Mice

All of these devices can be added to your TV. However, on your TV there may be a limited number of devices at a time that you can add.

If you need to know how to connect any wireless headphones to any TV, check out the post from the Home Theater DIY. They even cover recommendations, and what to do if your TV doesn’t have bluetooth capabilities.

You are still capable of getting your older Smart TV a Bluetooth upgrade if it does not have that feature.

What If My TV Does Not Have Bluetooth?

If your older Smart TV has no signs of being Bluetooth compatible, there is still hope. There are Bluetooth adapters that can help your TV accept devices that are Bluetooth.

A Bluetooth adapter is a USB device that helps in receiving and transmitting wireless signals to and from your Smart TV.

You are able to use a Bluetooth adapter to any piece of technology that has a USB port, and that will allow you to add other devices to it.

However, there are 3.5mm Bluetooth adapters if your Smart TV also has a headphone jack for wired devices.

These Bluetooth Adapters sometimes do have problems when paired with a TV.

Problems With Bluetooth Adapters

Whenever you connect a device to your TV there may be some problems along the way. Bluetooth devices have limitations that could frustrate you if they are not of quality.

Audio Sync

Most Bluetooth adapters can support at least two to three devices max. When using headphones or speakers, if you add more than two the audio will begin to fall out of sync.

Audio Quality

When you use Bluetooth to listen to music the audio may not sound as good. You will not get that great stereo sound that you want like you would a wired connection. The loss of quality will lean on how the Bluetooth codecs work together, either the transmitting and receiving ends.

The number of devices you use and the type of devices you use will be a factor in how your audio lags. This would mean that your images and your audio will not match up.

Wires will completely depend on whether or not you use an adapter that is primarily USB or includes wires. If you are looking for that clean look, then stick with the USB types.

If you have a wired Bluetooth adapter, the wires will come from the back of your TV to the front. This should be done so that the signal can have a strong connection to whichever device you want to attach it to.

If you need the Bluetooth adapter for headphones to help with hearing, you may want to invest in a good speaker or soundbar that covers a greater distance.

On the occasion that you are in the market for a new TV, there are some great companies that build them.

Companies That Make Smart TVs

When comparing Smart TVs themselves, most people look towards the companies that make them.

  • Samsung
  • Visio
  • Sony
  • LG
  • TLC
  • Panasonic

These are only a few of the biggest Smart TV companies. Some budget-friendly Smart TVs do not have all the features that come with a more costly Smart TV.

Budget-friendly Smart TV may also have weak performances in their wi-fi signal that allows you to add apps and other things to your Smart TV.
