How Do I Reset My Kasa?

There are various reasons why you may want to reset your Kasa surveillance camera. It could be because you are experiencing problems with the camera. Some common issues include an unresponsive Kasa app or a distorted image on your phone’s screen. This is due to inconsistent WiFi signal strength, which can cause these kinds of problems. 

You might also want to reset the camera if it has stopped working completely or you’re not receiving alerts. Whichever the case, there are two ways to reset a Kasa app — the manual method (using the reset button) and through the Kasa Smart app.

Use the Reset Button

The first way to reset the camera is by using its built-in physical button. The steps vary depending on your camera model. Follow the steps below for the type of camera you have.

Security Camera 1

While the security camera is on, press and hold the reset button for at least 15 seconds until the LED light on the device blinks amber quickly. Once this happens, the device will reset and reboot.

Security Camera 2

If you have this type of camera, the process is a bit different. First, you’ll need to remove the magnetic housing on the back of the camera. Afterward, locate the reset button. Press and hold the reset button for at least 15 seconds until the LED light on the device blinks amber quickly. Once this happens, the device will reset and reboot.

Pan &Tilt Security Camera

For a pan and tilt camera, begin by tilting the camera lens up. After doing this, press and hold the reset button for at least 15 seconds until the LED light on the device blinks amber quickly. Once this happens, the device will reset and reboot.

Wired-Outdoor Security Camera-1

For this type of camera, loosen the screws at the back of the camera to access the reset button. Once you’ve found it, press and hold the reset button for at least 15 seconds until the LED light on the device blinks amber quickly. Once this happens, the device will reset and reboot.

Wired-Outdoor Security Camera-2

Remove the magnetic mount and locate the reset button (it should be near the USB power cable. Press and hold the reset button for at least 15 seconds until the LED light on the device blinks amber quickly. Once this happens, the device will reset and reboot.

Wire-Free Outdoor Security Camera-1

While the camera is on, press and hold the sync button for at least 15 seconds until the LED light on the device blinks amber quickly. Once this happens, the device will reset and reboot.

Wire-Free Outdoor Security Camera-2

While the camera is on, press and hold the sync button on the side for at least 15 seconds until the LED light on the device blinks amber quickly. Once this happens, the device will reset and reboot.

Remove the Camera via Kasa Smart App

An alternative way to reset the camera is by deleting it via the Kasa Smart app. This is a convenient way to reset the camera if you’re unable to access its physical button. To reset the Kasa camera via the Kasa Smart app:

Go to Devices Page

Head on to the devices page and swipe your camera left. After doing this, tap “delete” and then tap “remove device” at the bottom of the page to remove the camera. The camera will be removed from your TP account, and the camera will be restored to its default settings.

Go to Device Settings Page

Alternatively, head to the devices page and tap on the “gear” icon to go to the device settings page. Once there, tap “remove device” at the bottom to remove the camera. The camera will be removed from your TP account, and the camera will be restored to its default settings.
