The Roku streaming stick allows easy access to the main streaming providers on compatible devices. Sometimes, you will need to logout of Netflix on Roku, especially if you want to use a different account.

Logging out of Netflix on Roku is different for each Roku model:

  • If you have Roku 1, you have to deactivate the device from the settings menu.
  • For Roku 2 or Roku LT, you can sign out by removing the channel.
  • With all other Roku models, you’ll need to deactivate the device to sign out of Netflix, but there might also be an additional troubleshooting step.

If you have a Roku streaming device and are interested in finding out how to logout of Netflix, read on below to see how this process changes based on your Roku model.

How to Logout of Netflix on Roku

Netflix is a popular subscription-based streaming platform that grants users access to plenty of viewing entertainment. The Roku streaming sticks make watching Netflix an easily accessible option.

There are four types of Roku models, with the 1 and the 2 being the most common in American households. Logging out of Netflix on the Roku is a process that varies depending on the model you have.

To log out of Netflix on a Roku 1, you’ll need to deactivate the device in the settings menu. For Roku 2 or LT, or any other Roku models, the process is generally the same, to deactivate the device, but sometimes you might need to do some troubleshooting.

For more information on how to log out on your specific Roku device, including any additional troubleshooting steps, keep reading.

If You Have a Roku 1

On a Roku 1 streaming stick, there are several steps to follow if you want to logout of Netflix. Here is a quick overview of what you should do.

Go to the Home Menu

Once you are ready to logout of Netflix on Roku, you should press the Home button. This will lead you to the Roku Home Menu, where you will be able to see various options that will allow you to configure your device.

Select Settings

On the Roku Home Menu, select the Settings option. Under Settings, select the Netflix Settings menu. Here, you will see various options that you can use to manage your Netflix viewing experience on the Roku streaming stick.

Deactivate the Device

To logout of Netflix on Roku 1 models, select the option to Deactivate This Player From My Netflix Account. You will find this on the Netflix Settings menu. This will automatically log you out from Netflix on Roku, and you will need to enter your credentials again to use it.

If You Have a Roku 2 or Roku LT

On Roku 2 or Roku LT models, the process to logout of Netflix differs slightly than on Roku model 1 options.

Navigate to the Home Menu

To begin the process of logging out of Netflix on Roku, the first thing to do is to press the Home button on the Roku remote. This button will take you to the Roku Home Menu, where all the configuration options for the device can be found.

Select the Netflix App and Press Star

Once you are on the Roku Home Menu, you should navigate to the Netflix app. If you remain on the app logo without pressing it to open it, this will select the app. To configure it further, you will have to keep the app highlighted to see its settings.

To do this, keep the app highlighted and press the star button on your Roku remote.

Remove the Channel

Once you’ve pressed the star button on your Roku remote while keeping the Netflix app highlighted, you will see various prompts on the screen. To logout of Netflix on Roku, select the Remove Channel option.

You will be asked to confirm this by choosing the Remove Channel option once more. After this is done, you will be logged out of Netflix on a Roku 2 or LT device.

If you want to have access to Netflix again on your device, you will have to visit the Streaming Channels option on the Roku Home Menu. Under it, pick the Movie & TV option, then Netflix. Enter your credentials again, and enjoy access to the streaming platform.

If You Have a Different Roku Model

For all Roku models that aren’t 1, 2, or the LT, you should follow these steps to logout of Netflix.

Open Netflix

To configure Netflix access on these Roku models, you will have to open Netflix first. This will allow you to choose how to manage your Netflix experience on a Roku device. Netflix will open on its main page.

Go to Get Help or Settings

From the Netflix main page, go to the left side of your screen. There, you will see either the Get Help or Settings option. Pick whichever is applicable to you, and enter the Settings Menu.

If you do not see the Settings or Get Help text, look for the Settings icon that looks like a cog. This will lead to the same menu.

Sign Out or Deactivate the Device

Once in the Settings or Get Help menu, select the Sign Out option. You will be asked to confirm this selection by pressing Yes when prompted. This will log you out of Netflix on your Roku device.

What to Do If You Don’t See These Options

In some cases, you may not see any of the settings options on the Netflix Home screen. If this happens to you, there is a sequence you can enter to logout of Netflix.

While in the Netflix app, use the arrows on your Roku device remote to navigate. The sequence to follow is Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right, Up, Up, Up, Up. Once you do this, pick one of the following options: Sign Out, Start Over, Deactivate, Reset.

Conclusion

The process to logout of Netflix on Roku is a straightforward process that will have variations depending on the type of Roku device you have. In all cases, you will be able to logout within minutes.
