Installing your Eufy Floodlight Cameras is easy. There are two methods of installing the Eufy Floodlight Cameras: indoor and outdoor. The only difference in installation is how the power is connected to the Eufy Floodlight Camera unit. Other than that, the installation will be roughly the same.

Anyone can install the Eufy Floodlight Cameras either indoors or outdoor. Outdoor might take a little more setup depending on how the power is already set up outside your home. Running your power junction box for these cameras is outside the scope of this article. You should contact a professional to install an outside electrical junction box outdoors.

How to Install the Eufy Floodlight Cameras

The Eufy Floodlight Camera comes out of the box with a standard 3-pronged power cord (for the US outlets). The indoor instructions will assume you will use the connected 3-pronged power cord attached to the Eufy Floodlight Camera to power your camera.

There are two ways to install your Eufy Floodlight Camera system: indoor and outdoor. Both are fairly simple, but indoor is quite quick. Outdoor requires an electrical junction box that might need to be installed by a professional if one isn’t already available.

These cameras should only be installed if you are comfortable handling electrical wires. If you are uncomfortable handling electrical wires, you should hire a professional electrician to install these cameras. It is better to be safe than sorry when working with electricity.

When installing, also consider setting it up with your smart home ecosystem, such as with Google Home or Amazon Alexa.

How to Install the Eufy Floodlight Camera Indoors

The process of setting up the camera indoors is simple. The 3-pronged power cable is the easiest method of powering the Eufy Floodlight Camera system. You will be able to power your unit and connect it to the app on your phone or tablet, which will connect the device automatically to your WiFi, and then you will be recording. It’s the quickest way to get online.

Make sure you test your camera before mounting it to a wall indoors. Otherwise, you should just have to plug your camera in via the 3-prong power cable into a standard home outlet. Then, the camera will be able to be added and set up with the Eufy Security app and start recording.

How to Install the Eufy Floodlight Camera Outdoors

Installing the Eufy Floodlight Camera outdoors is a little more involved and only for someone comfortable working around electrical wires. It isn’t difficult, but it does require ensuring that the power to the Eufy Floodlight Camera is turned off at the fuse box or breaker box to prevent any electrical shock while installing the camera system.

For outdoor installation, you need access to a power junction box outside your house where you plan to mount the Eufy Floodlight Camera. If you do not have an electrical junction box where you want to mount your camera, you should contact a qualified professional to install one. Once you have one installed, these instructions can be followed to install the camera.

  1. Remove the 3-pronged power cable attached to the back of the three wires coming out of the Eufy Floodlight Camera unit with three-wire nutsUnscrew the wire nuts and save them for later – we will need those to connect to the power of the junction box. The 3-pronged power cord is not needed for this installation.
  2. Turn off the breaker that controls the power to the junction box where you will be installing the Eufy Floodlight Camera.
  3. Install the junction box mounting plate included with your Eufy Floodlight Camera. – the concave side of the mounting plate should face outward.
  4. A hook is provided with your Eufy Floodlight Camera kit; hang the Eufy Floodlight Camera from this hook while connecting the wires with the wire nuts.
  5. Connect the ground wire from the junction box to the ground wire on the Eufy Floodlight Camera using one of the wire nuts taken off the power cord. The ground wire should be either yellow or green. If there’s no yellow or green wire in the junction box, connect the Eufy Floodlight Camera’s ground wire directly to the metal junction box or mounting plate.
  6. Use another wire nut to connect the white neutral wire from the junction box to the white neutral wire on the Eufy Floodlight Camera.
  7. Use the last wire nut to connect the black wire from the junction box to the black wire on the Eufy Floodlight Camera.
  8. Insert the long screw through the screw hole in the central part of the floodlight unit and cover the screw with the included screw cap.
  9. Turn the power back on at your fuse box or breaker box.
  10. Once powered up, wait for the status LED to blink red or be steady white.

Once the Status LED light begins to blink red or is steady white, your cameras are now ready to be connected to your HomeBase or Eufy Security App.

If at any point you are worried about working around live electrical (even though the power should be off, accidents can still happen), you should seek the help of a professional electrician to help install the Eufy Floodlight Camera. It isn’t worth risking your life if you aren’t comfortable dealing with electrical wires. It is better to be safe than sorry when it comes to electricity.

Connect your Eufy Floodlight Cameras to the Eufy Security App

Once your cameras are installed, you’ll have to connect them to the Eufy Security App.

  1. Connect your Eufy Floodlight Camera to a power source
  2. Wait 1 minute or until the status LED indicator on the front of the camera unit blinks red.
  3. Download the Eufy Security app from the iOS App Store or the Google Play Store for Android devices.
  4. In the Eufy Security app, Login or sign up for a Eufy Security account
  5. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the Eufy Floodlight Camera setup

As a side note, it is always a good idea when using this method to test your camera before mounting it so you can be sure that you have a good WiFi signal where you want the camera to reside. You should also check and make sure you can live-stream video well before finalizing the mounting of the Eufy Floodlight Camera.

Conclusion

While installing the Eufy Floodlight Camera indoors is quite simple, installing it outdoors takes a little bit more preparation and possibly a little more comfort dealing with electrical wires. This setup should be a breeze if you are comfortable with all of those things. Eufy makes setting up their products a breeze. They are known for being very user-friendly.
