Walmart gift cards are a very handy gift, but you may be wondering if you can use them to add balance to your Cash App. This payment service would allow you to use the money to make transfers without any extra hassle.
Not all users are able to directly add a Walmart gift card as a funding source for Cash App. If you’re not one of the users that has this feature, you can sell the Walmart gift card for one of the funding options that Cash App does allow.
In most cases, Cash App does accept prepaid cards, like the Visa gift cards provided by Walmart. If you are unable to use it on your version of Cash App, there are several workarounds you will be able to try. Let’s find out the easy way to transfer a Walmart gift card to Cash App.
Before you embark on this process, you should make sure you have everything you need to hand. If you can transfer the Walmart gift card directly on the Cash App, you will need to have your phone within reach, along with the gift card in question.
No matter which method of transfer you end up using, these are the items you will need to have. The gift card will have a code on it that will be required by Cash App, which you will need to use to complete the transfer.
Cash App is constantly working on offering various methods of adding funds to the account. The app supports Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover, and most prepaid cards. It does not currently accept PayPal or ATM cards, but this can also change in the future.
If you have the option, you can add the Walmart gift card funds directly to Cash App by using your phone. Before you can add the gift card, open the Cash App, log in and open your wallet.
Then follow these steps to add a Walmart gift card:
- Under Bank Accounts, choose ‘add a bank account’ option.
- From the dropdown menu, choose the ‘Walmart gift card’ option.
- Enter gift card amount.
- Tap on ‘add a bank.’
- You will then be asked to enter the PIN associated with your Walmart gift card. This is necessary to confirm the transaction.
- Wait for the amount to be transferred between the Walmart gift card and Cash App. This is usually immediate but can take up to twenty-four hours to be processed.
This is the quickest and most straightforward way to easily transfer a Walmart gift card to Cash App, but don’t worry if you don’t have this option. Let’s take a look at what else you can try.
If your Cash App does not support the direct transfer of Walmart gift card funds, there is another option to try. Cash App is known for being easy to use with Bitcoin. There are a lot of resellers online looking to buy Walmart gift cards from people in exchange for Bitcoin.
If you tend to use Bitcoin, this can be a great way to get funds from your Walmart gift card to your Cash App account. To do so, go to your favorite Bitcoin platform and place your Walmart gift card up for sale. Some of these platforms allow you to make an instant sale.
Once you’ve sold the gift card, you will have the funds available in your Bitcoin wallet. You can use this to deposit money in your Cash App. On the Cash App home, tap on the Bitcoin tab.
When you’re there, select the ‘deposit Bitcoin’ option. For this to work, you will need to enable Bitcoin deposits and withdrawals in the app settings. Go back to your external Bitcoin wallet and scan, copy, or share your Cash App Bitcoin address.
Confirm this operation with your Touch ID, FaceID, or PIN. The limit for Bitcoin deposits in a seven-day period is $10,000, and the transfer should be immediate but can take a few hours, depending on the connection.
If you would rather simplify the process even more, you can opt for a Walmart MoneyCard instead of a gift card. The Walmart MoneyCard is a fully prepaid card rather than a gift card. Most systems, including Cash App, prefer this type of card.
The Walmart MoneyCard is created in partnership with MasterCard, which makes the card perfect for use with subscription services or Cash App. If your family members want to give you a Walmart gift card for a special occasion, you can easily ask them to send money to your MoneyCard instead.
Once you have your Walmart MoneyCard, you can go to Cash App and repeat the steps listed above. You will go to your profile, then to bank accounts, then to add a bank. Enter your Walmart MoneyCard number, then the amount, then confirms by using the PIN.
This is an alternative you can easily try, seeing as Walmart advertises both gift cards and MoneyCards in the same places.
You can transfer a Walmart gift card to Cash App by either using the card directly in the app as a funding source or by selling the card for Bitcoin. There is also an even easier-to-use alternative in the shape of the Walmart MoneyCard.
