The iPhone is a reliable cell phone that offers many useful subscriptions for different apps and services. However, subscriptions on the iPhone do expire after a while, and there may come a time when you wish to delete expired subscriptions.

There is no direct way to delete an expired subscription on your iPhone. However, there are some ways to remove them from your subscription screen:

  • Wait until the expired subscription deletes itself.
  • Cancel active subscriptions before they expire.
  • Create a new Apple ID.

How to Easily Delete Expired Subscriptions on Your iPhone

Unfortunately, there really are no easy ways to delete expired subscriptions on your iPhone.

The only way you can get them off your phone without taking extra steps is by waiting for the subscriptions to delete themselves.

After starting a subscription on your iPhone, you cannot manually delete them — regardless of whether or not they have expired.

The subscriptions will delete themselves approximately a year after they expire or are canceled. Since you cannot manually delete them, the easiest thing you can do is wait.

There are no reasons that Apple gives as to why expired subscriptions on your iPhone cannot be easily deleted. However, you can delete active subscriptions.

Can You Hide Your iPhone Subscriptions?

After learning you cannot delete your expired iPhone subscriptions until they remove themselves after one year, you may be curious if you can at least hide your subscriptions.

While you can hide apps on your iPhone’s screen, there is unfortunately no way to hide that expired photo editing subscription.

There is also no way to delete your purchase history off of your iPhone.

The Apple App Store keeps a record of any purchases you make under your Apple ID, so this information can never be truly deleted.

Not even clearing your app cache will help.

Interestingly, the App Store does not just store information regarding what subscriptions you have subscribed to.

It also shows all the music, books, and shows you have purchased.

How to Cancel Active Subscriptions Before They Expire

The key to deleting expired iPhone subscriptions seems to be to cancel them before they expire. Otherwise, you will have to wait a year until they are automatically removed.

Fortunately, canceling active iPhone subscriptions is a much easier and doable feat than deleting expired subscriptions. To do this, complete the following steps:

  • Open your iPhone’s Settings.
  • Press your name.
  • Select “Subscriptions.”
  • Scroll until you find the active subscription you want to cancel.
  • Press the subscription you want to cancel.
  • Scroll to the bottom of the page and press “Cancel Subscription.”

If you do not see an option to cancel the subscription, it has most likely already been canceled.

How to Create a New Apple ID

As mentioned earlier, it is impossible to delete expired subscriptions on your own.

However, there is one way you can technically delete your expired subscriptions by creating a new ID.

If you want to delete expired subscriptions on your iPhone, you can always create a new Apple ID. Although this will not delete the expired subscriptions from your original account, it will give you a clean slate.

You don’t need to purchase a new iPhone to change your Apple ID. To create a new Apple ID, just follow the steps below:

  • Open your iPhone’s Settings app.
  • Select your name at the top of the screen.
  • Scroll to the bottom and press “Sign Out.”
  • Select “Create a New Apple ID.”
  • Fill out all the necessary details to create your new ID.

Once you are done with the above steps, you will have a clean slate with no expired subscriptions.

In Conclusion

It is not possible to completely delete expired iPhone subscriptions. They will automatically delete themselves from your subscription list about a year after expiring.

For this reason, the easiest way to get them off your list is to wait for them to disappear on their own.

Additionally, you cannot hide your expired subscriptions on your iPhone.

There are also not currently any methods that will allow you to delete your subscription or purchase history from your iPhone.

Canceling active subscriptions by accessing your iPhone’s Settings app may be the easiest way to prevent expired subscriptions from appearing on your iPhone.

There is a more difficult method of deleting your expired subscriptions, but that entails creating a new Apple ID, which will require you to use a different email address and password.
