How to Add Sonos to Lutron Caseta (Step by Step)

Make Sure You Have Your Devices Ready
Before going a step further, make sure that you have all of these things on hand:
- Your Lutron Caseta bridge. This device allows your smart home devices to relay signals to each other. It also allows your devices to connect to the internet.
- The Lutron app. Available on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store, the Lutron app lets you configure your devices.
- Your smartphone. Your smartphone will host the app. You can also use a tablet if it meets the app’s specifications.
- Your Sonos system. This system will allow you to play music.
- A stable Wi-Fi connection. You don’t necessarily need an internet connection once you’ve connected your Lutron Caseta. However, you will need it for the installation process.
Contrary to misconceptions online, you do need the Pico Remote to control your devices. While this allows you to wirelessly control your appliances, it is not necessary.
Check that Your Devices Are Online
Before pairing your Lutron Caseta to your sound system, first, make sure that it works. Give it a command through the app to test it out. If everything’s good, proceed to the next step. If not, make sure that all of your devices are on the same Wi-Fi network.
Open the Lutron App and Add Sonos as a Device
Once you’ve opened the app and logged into your account:
- Select the gear icon at the top left-hand side.
- Choose “Add a Device.”
- Scroll down and select your Sonos system.
- Follow the prompts on the screen.

They need to be on the same network so they can “talk” to each other. Make sure your Lutron Caseta smart bridge is also connected to the internet.
Your Bridge Isn’t Working
Give your Lutron Caseta a try. Did it work? If so, ignore this step and move on. If not, try doing a hard reset. You can reset your Lutron bridge by locating the button on the back and holding it down for 20 seconds. You might need to reenter some information when it comes back online, but this should give your bride a “clean slate.”
Go Through the Lutron App Again
Refer to the steps we listed above and give it a second try. Make sure that:
- Your phone is on the same network as your other devices.
- You clicked “save” before you exited out of the app.
- You correctly entered your login information.
- You didn’t accidentally skip any steps.
You even might want to try force-quitting out of the app and then opening it again.
Make Sure Your Apps Are Up to Date
Whether you’re using an Android phone, iPhone, or tablet, it needs to be running on the latest version possible. The same goes for the Lutron app. If your software isn’t up to date, you could have difficulty making and saving changes.
Make Sure Your Sonos Is Operational
This might go without saying, but you can’t just take your Sonos out of the box and immediately connect to your Lutron Caseta.
