You see, when your home loses power, you’re not entirely without protection, thanks to ADT’s built-in backup batteries. In a power loss, ADT’s backup system will be activated and continue to monitor your several hours.

In addition, a low-battery signal will be sent to ADT’s customer monitoring center. You’ll also receive a low battery indication on your keypad (e.g. LOW BATT). In some models, the system will also beep continuously until you rectify the low battery problem.

How Do I Stop My ADT System From Beeping During a Power Outage?

After a power outage, your ADT system will detect the power outage, and then it may sound a beeping alarm. This is to let you know that your system has detected an interruption in electrical service from the local utility provider.

Some models beep continuously, and it can be loud. To stop the beeping sound, you’ll have to access the control panel. Use your credentials to access the control panel, then click “disarm.” The beeping sound should stop shortly after you’ve disarmed the alarm. However, in some cases, the beeping may continue for a few minutes before stopping.

If you want to reset the system completely, press the “off” button on the keypad twice. However, make sure you use your credentials. Otherwise, the system may lock you out of the panel.

While the beeping sound may be annoying, we don’t recommend turning it off because the beeping sound will alert you if someone enters your garage or home while you’re away. In addition, in a power outage, this beeping sound may also scare away intruders, which you need when you’re in a vulnerable situation.
