Echo Dots are amazing for music and helping with daily tasks, but not many realize that you can connect this to your TV. You can use it as a speaker for your TV so that you don’t have to use your TV’s speakers (which aren’t always the best).

Connecting your TV via a wire instead of Bluetooth or other ways is quite simple. It may not be as difficult as you originally thought. It only takes a few minutes and an auxiliary cable to get yourself situated.

Here is everything you need to know about connecting your Echo Dot to your TV and all the other ways you can connect your device to your TV.

How Do I Connect Echo Dot To The TV With A Wire?

There are only a few steps to connecting your Echo Dot. You will first need to gather all the supplies for the process and bring them close to the TV so that you can connect everything. Here is everything you need:

  • Echo Dot
  • Power cable
  • Auxillary cable
  • TV

Once you have gathered all your supplies, you can begin the connection. Follow these simple steps so you can be listening through the Amazon device in no time:

  • Plug in the Echo Dot.
  • Turn on the TV.
  • Plug the auxiliary cable into the device.
  • Plug the auxiliary cable into the headphone outlet on your TV.
  • Test the connection between the two devices.

Your TV doesn’t have to be a smart TV to connect your Amazon device via the auxiliary chord. As long as your television has an auxiliary port, you can plug in your device. You don’t need the fancy Bluetooth or internet connection for this.

Other Ways I Can Connect Echo Dot To My TV

Connecting your Amazon device is not the only way to connect to your television. As long as you have a Smart TV, you will find many ways to do this. This includes both Bluetooth and the Alexa app.

Remember that your television needs to be a Smart TV and have Bluetooth capabilities. If your TV is neither of these, you will not be able to use these types of connections with your devices.

Bluetooth

You can connect your Echo Dot via Bluetooth. First, you need to turn on the Bluetooth capability on your television. Your TV needs to be ‘seen’ by your Echo device. You will need the Alexa application to continue this process, for you will use it for the next steps.

Go through the Alexa application and follow the instructions to connect your Echo Dot to the TV through Bluetooth. Once connected, you can use the Echo Dot as a speaker for your television. You can even put it in another room so you can hear your TV everywhere. Bluetooth does have its limitations, though.

The Alexa App

If your TV doesn’t have Bluetooth capability but is a Smart TV, you can connect your Echo Dot through the Alexa application. First, download the app and then log in to your Amazon account. You will then add the Echo Dot device to your devices if you haven’t already done so.

Once this is all done, add a new device. You will add your television. Make sure your television is attached to the internet, or this process will not work. You may have to log into the Smart TV account you used on it. Then you will be able to add the device to your Alexa app.

You can even use the Echo Dot as a means of controlling your television through this connection. Not all commands may be compatible between the Echo Dot and your TV, but you can do simple commands like pause the TV or turn the volume up or down. It’s great when you lose the remote.

Is It Better To Connect With A Wire?

It really depends on what you want to use the Echo Dot for with your TV. You cannot use the Echo Dot as a remote controller when you just plug it in through the auxiliary cable. It can only be used as a speaker for your TV.

If the purpose is to use the Echo Dot as a speaker, you can do either. There isn’t too much of a difference between either connection. Remember that auxiliary may be easier, and you don’t have to worry about your device getting disconnected. You won’t be facing possible complications that may come with Bluetooth connectivity.

Outro

Echo Dots can be connected in many different ways, but the auxiliary port is the best possible solution if your TV is limited. You can have yourself a TV speaker in no time and watch your favorite shows and films without the hassle of bad speakers of an old TV.
