Have you just installed a Weboost signal booster and are not sure if it’s working or not? Maybe you are not getting enough signal bars on your device and think the signal booster is not working. The thing is, your signal booster may be working just fine even if there are no changes or movement in your device’s signal bars. Does your question remain how I can tell if my Weboost is working?

The only way you can confirm if your Weboost signal booster is working is to compare your boosted WiFi signal strength against your phone’s initial performance. How To Fix Weboost Signal Problem

As discussed earlier, there are usually two main issues that can cause your signal booster not to work very well; an overload or an oscillation problem.

How To Fix Signal Booster Overload Problem

When multiple cell service providers send out strong signals, amplifier overload can occur in such areas. This causes an instant reduction in the signal boosting strength. There are chances that this issue may correct on its own, but there are higher tendencies that the amplifier maxes out before the correction occurs. 

If the booster auto-correct itself, it will continually lead to signal drop and recalibration. Below are steps to fix the overload problem.

Adjust the Outdoor Antenna

If your antenna is directional, gradually move the antenna to a point where less signal is received. Stop at an interval to check for overload warning and the signal strength status. This might take some time, but you will have to find the right spot where your amplifier works at full capacity and distributes signal evenly without dropping. 

Try and Attenuator

If network towers surround your building, using an attenuator might be perfect for improving signal strength. The attenuator works by resting on the cable of your antenna and decreasing the incoming signal to your device. Be sure you don’t have a weak signal, as attenuating a weak signal will make the incoming signal weaker.

Change the Amplifier

if the previous fixes didn’t work, consider buying a new amplifier that can withstand stronger signals. It might be expensive, but it might be what you need to get your cell signal working optimally. 

How to Fix Oscillation Problem

Oscillation means the signal is bouncing back and forth between the interior and the exterior antenna, which results in a feedback loop causing the signal to lose strength or drop off completely. A feedback loop occurs when a signal booster attempts to solve the problem by reducing the boosting output of the affected band. 

If the antenna fails to resolve the issue, a warning might be seen indicating amplifier oscillation. Below are three steps to solve oscillation issues.

Check the Directional Antenna Position

Ensure your directional antenna is not facing your building. If it’s pointed towards the roof, then there is a higher chance it’s probably picking ambient signals coming from the building. Direct the antenna away from the roof.

Move the Interior and Exterior Antennas

Move both antennas to ensure they are further apart. Ensure the amplifier is switched off before trying to move the antennas. You can move the antennas farther apart vertically or horizontally and place them where you receive the optimal signal strength. 

Once you are done with the adjustments, switch back on the amplifier and check the signal strength and oscillation traces. If the problem persists, try another position.

Shield the Exterior Antenna

Try shielding the exterior antenna from the rest of the building by placing it behind a large object like a chimney or the air conditioning unit. If your external antenna is indoor, put it behind a metal object like a cabinet or cover it with aluminum foil. The aim is to distance the antenna from the rest of the property by placing a substantial mass there.
