Alexa delivery notifications can be useful when you want package updates, but sometimes they can be bothersome. So how can you turn off notifications?

Turning off your delivery notifications on an Echo device is easy and can be completed in minutes. All you will need is your mobile phone or computer and access to the Alexa app or Amazon website.

Do you want to stop receiving delivery updates? Or keep gifts secret from a loved one during the holiday season? If so, keep reading to learn how to turn off Alexa delivery notifications!

Do I Have Notifications?

If you don’t know if you have notifications, a yellow light will show up when you do. You can also ask Alexa if you have notifications and what they are to find out.

How to Customize Delivery Notifications Through the Alexa App

With Amazon’s Alexa app, you can easily customize your preferences and settings, such as turning off delivery notifications. To do so, follow the steps below:

  1. Open the Alexa app on your mobile device
  2. Click the More icon in the lower right corner
  3. Go to Settings, click on Notifications, and then click on Amazon Shopping

Once you access the Amazon Shopping tab, you will have several notification options that you can either turn on or off. Some of these include:

  • Return updates
  • Delivered notifications
  • Out for delivery notifications

If you want to turn off all notifications, you can press the toggle next to the setting to turn it off. If you only want to receive some notifications, you can select what type you want.

If you are worried about security and want to ensure your packages arrive safely and aren’t stolen, Alexa is compatible with many security smart devices like the Blink Video Doorbell and the Eufy Smart Lock

How to Customize Delivery Notifications on the Amazon Website

In addition to the Alexa app, you can customize your notification settings through the Amazon website on a computer or phone. To do so, follow these next steps:

  1. Open a new tab and go to Amazon’s website
  2. Log in to your Amazon account
  3. Click on the Accounts & Lists menu directly under your name
  4. Choose Account and scroll until you find the Communications and content section
  5. Click on Alexa shopping notifications
  6. Customize your delivery and return settings by switching the toggles on or off

After completing these steps, you will have set what delivery or return notifications you wish to receive.

Instead of setting a delivery notification, you can set a trigger with a Philips Hue Motion Sensor.

How to Turn Off Item Titles While Still Receiving Notifications

If you are ordering a gift for someone in your household, you can prevent Alexa from including package content in the notification while still receiving updates on when it arrives.

To do so, follow these steps:

  1. Open the Alexa app
  2. Click the More icon
  3. Go to Settings >Notifications >Amazon Shopping
  4. Find the section titled “Say or Show Item Titles”
  5. Turn off For Items In Delivery Update
  6. Find the section titled “Delivery Notifications”
  7. Select Delivered and Out for Delivery, depending on the notifications you would like to receive

After completing these steps, you will still be able to receive delivery notifications without Alexa disclosing what is in the package, especially for your kid’s holiday gifts

How to Label a Package as a Gift

When turning off item titles, you have a third option to keep titles on except for packages labeled as gifts.

Turning off item titles only for gifts is a good option if you still want to have Alexa tell you what is in your packages but want to keep gifts secret. To label an item as a gift, follow these steps:

  1. Go to your cart when ordering on the Amazon app or website
  2. Check out and select This order contains a gift under the subtotal

After completing these steps, you will have labeled your cart items as gifts, and you will not receive delivery notifications on those items if you turned off gift package updates.

How to Label Individual Items as Gifts

If you have an order that includes gifts and other things that aren’t, you will have to label each gift item separately. To do so, follow these steps:

  1. Go to your cart on the Amazon app or website
  2. Start the checkout process and find the items you want to label as gifts
  3. Check the box that says This is a gift located under each item’s title

After completing these steps, you will have labeled your cart or separate items as gifts, and you will not receive delivery notifications on those items if you turned off gift package updates.

Conclusion

Alexa’s voice notifications are great when you want to be updated on your packages. However, they can spoil surprises, especially during holidays or special occasions.

Hopefully, after reading this article, you know how to turn off delivery notifications and how to keep your gifts secret.
