Does The HelloBaby Monitor Record Video?

Last Updated Jul 21, 2022

If you need to watch your little one while sleeping in a different room, then a baby monitor can be a parent’s best friend. Some parents, however, need a little more from their baby monitors. Some parents have found that the ability to record and store the video of their baby monitors is a valuable tool, so does the HelloBaby monitor record video?

HelloBaby Monitors do not record their video feed. An older, no longer available model of HelloBaby Monitor was capable of recording video because it had an expandable storage SD card slot. However, the current ones made after 2021 do not have expandable storage.

The HelloBaby brand of baby monitors is a line of budget baby monitors, so many of their baby monitors come with the most basic features. To record the video on your baby monitor, you must move up a tier on the type of baby monitor. A move up in features is also a move up in price. If you want to record, you will have to pay for it.

Which Baby Monitor with Video Recording to Purchase?

If you were lucky and could purchase a HelloBaby HB25 Baby Monitor, it is the only one with an SD card slot for expandable storage. The only place you would be available to find one now is from a third-party-market seller such as someone on Amazon Marketplace, Facebook Marketplace, or eBay. The HelloBaby monitors also can’t be viewed on your phone.

There are numerous baby monitors capable of recording video. These models will offer the best features for the price. They are:

  • Motorola Connect40
  • VTech VM901
  • Nanit Pro
  • Motorola Halo+

Below is a breakdown of the different brands. The list is formulated from the cheapest to the most expensive so that you can select the one that fits your budget. Of course, the higher the price, the more features that come with the baby monitor.

The Motorola Connect40

The Motorola Connect40 is the lowest-priced model of the video-recording capable baby monitors on this list at $139.99 with a 4-star rating on Amazon. The Hubble Connected app allows users to view their cameras and recorded videos from anywhere.

The downside is that you will need a subscription plan to record videos. The Hubble Connected plan automatically saves any motion-activated video stream on your camera to a cloud account you can access from their app anywhere with an internet connection. The subscription prices are listed below.

Motion-Activated Video StorageMonthlyYearly

5 Days of Video History$5.99 per month$59 per year
14 Days of Video History$9.99 per month$99 per year
30 Days of Video History$14.99 per month$149 per year

There are other benefits of the different levels of subscriptions that can be viewed on the Hubble Connected website here.

VTech VM901 Upgrade Smart Baby Monitor

The VTech VM901 is slightly more expensive at $149.95, with a 4.5-star rating on Amazon. The camera works with the VTech app, allowing the user to record video and audio from anywhere with an internet connection. The best feature is that it doesn’t require a subscription.

On top of not needing a subscription to record video of your baby monitor, you are only limited by the storage on your device. The VTech baby monitor app records video directly to the device’s installed storage. It can also be set to record motion-activated videos that will be recorded directly to the local device storage.

Nanit Pro Smart Baby Monitor

The Nanit Pro Smart Baby Monitor retails for $299.99 with a 4.5 rating. But with that price jump comes some significant upgrades in features. The app can track infant breathing patterns via an included breathing band and has nightlights.

As one might expect, you’ll need a subscription with all the features. The Nanit series of baby monitors do more than just record videos in their app, such as sleep analysis and sleep coaching advice. The low-tier plan offers no days of video history, with the mid-tier offering only two. The top-tier plan offers only seven days of video history.

There are other benefits of the different levels of subscriptions that can be viewed on Nanit’s website here. You can also use the Nanit in a hotel, even though the HelloBaby might be a safer option.

Motorola Halo+ Video Baby Monitor

The Motorola Halo+ Video Baby Monitor might just be the Rolls Royce of baby monitors. It is $299.99 and rated 4 stars on Amazon. It plays lullabies and has a night light, a crib stand, and a light show ceiling projector. It can also track your baby’s sleeping habits through the Motorola Halo+ Hubble Connected app. Once again, though, you will need a subscription.

The same Hubble Connected subscriptions as the Motorola Connect40 apply to the Motorola Halo+. Most of the price difference comes as features of the camera and extra lighting and mounting features. The different Hubble Connected Subscriptions are listed below.

Motion-Activated Video StorageMonthlyYearly
1 Day of Video HistoryFREEFREE
5 Days of Video History$5.99 per month$59 per year
14 Days of Video History$9.99 per month$99 per year
30 Days of Video History$14.99 per month$149 per year

Conclusion

As you can see, it is hard to come by a video recording baby monitor with local storage. None of the popular models include them anymore. There has been a significant push toward cloud storage and, with it, a subscription-based model.
