It comes as no surprise that Google and Sonos have created some of the best audio products in the past couple of years. Both companies have consistently provided devices that improve the smart home and audio experience, but it can be hard to choose between one or the other. Does Google Nest Audio work with Sonos?

The good news is Google Nest Audio is compatible with Sonos, and you can connect your Sonos account to your Google Nest Audio speaker as well as add Google assistant to your Sonos speakers.

Keep reading to learn more about connecting Sonos and Google and how to use them together.

How Do You Control Sonos with your Google Nest Audio?

The Google Nest Audio is a great speaker to add to your home for full coverage audio.

You can use the Google Home App to connect your Sonos speaker with your Google Nest Audio. There are a couple of different options to connect your Sonos Speakers with your Google Nest Audio Speaker.

Sonos speakers like the Sonos One and Sonos Beam can be directly set up with your current Google Audio devices to act as an additional speaker throughout your home. The Sonos One and Sonos Beam speakers both have wifi compatibility and can be used as additional Google Assistants in your home.

The rest of Sonos devices can be connected to your Google Nest Audio or other Google Smart Speaker via Bluetooth.

How to Stream Music From Your Google Device to Another Bluetooth Speaker?

To use your Google speaker as a controller for another Bluetooth speaker, you need to set up a connection within the Google Home app.

  • Open the Google Home app
  • Navigate to the Google speaker that you would like to pair with another Bluetooth speaker
  • Within that Google speaker’s menu, select the settings ‘gear’ icon.
  • Next select “Audio.”
  • Go to “Paired Bluetooth devices.”
  • Ensure your Bluetooth speaker is on the list. If not, select “Enable Pairing Mode” and add the new Bluetooth speaker
  • Back out of the Paired Bluetooth devices menu
  • Open the “Default Music Speaker”
  • Select the Bluetooth speaker

If you have successfully followed these steps, now, when you ask your Google Assistant speaker to play any type of media, the audio will play through your Bluetooth speaker rather than the Google speaker.

These steps will allow you to connect your Bluetooth Sonos speaker to your Google Nest Audio and allow you to connect any Bluetooth speaker to your Google smart speaker.
