Choosing the best streaming device can be overwhelming, especially when a brand has several options to offer. Amazon is a brand that has the option of Fire Cube TV or Fire Stick.  Fire Cube TV is a new hands-free option that is appealing to many for several reasons.

Fire Cube TV will work with any TV that has HDMI capabilities. Most modern TVs are equipped with this feature. You can easily find it by looking at the back of your TV, where it will be clearly labeled.

In this article, you will learn how Fire Cube TV can work with any TV.

Fire Cube TV Compatibility

If you are looking to upgrade to Fire Cube TV, you may be wondering if this modern technology is available for all TVs. While Fire Cube TV will work with most modern television sets, you cannot expect it to work with an old-fashioned set that does not have HD or HDMI capabilities.

Do I Have an HD TV?

Without looking, you can determine if your TV is HD compatible. HD TVs were first released in 1998. This means, if you purchased your current TV after 1998, you likely have HD compatibility.  While the date can be a good indicator, you will want to verify this by looking at your television set. There are two ways to determine if your TV is HD.

1.       Look at the owner’s manual. Sometimes the name of the TV will indicate if it is HD, but there will be times that you need to do a little searching through the manual. If you do not see it in the title, look for the resolution. If you only see resolution options in the 400’s, you DO NOT have an HD TV. However, if you see multiple resolution listings with high numbers, the set is HD. (Source: Techwalla)

2.       Look at the back of the television. If you have an HD TV, you will see several labeled ports. HDMI, VGA, or DVI. These indicate that your TV can accept high-definition images.

If you have determined your TV is HD compatible, you will be able to use Fire Cube TV. If you do not have an HD TV, you will not use the Fire Cube TV because it will not support the software and images. There are no special connectors that can make the paring possible. However, if you need to purchase an HD TV, they are relatively affordable.

How Do I Connect Fire Cube TV?

If you have determined that your TV is compatible with Fire Cube TV, then you are ready to connect the device to your television. Connecting a Fire Cube TV to your television is extremely easy to do and can be done quickly.

Plug and Play

Connecting the Fire Cube to your television is as easy as plug and play. You will need to connect the cube to your television using an HDMI cable. Once the cable is connected to both the TV and your Fire Cube, you are ready to get started.

Once your Fire Cube relates to the HDMI cable, you will want to make sure the TV shows the correct source, your HDMI. Some TVs have more than one HDMI port, so you will want to make sure you have chosen the correct port from the drop-down menu. At that point, all the directions will be step by step on the screen for your set-up. As soon as it is set up, you are ready to watch.

Special Connections

After learning about the HDMI cable, you may be wondering if there are any other special connection cables you need to purchase before setting up the device. When setting up the Fire Cube TV, you will need to have some basic materials.

Wi-fi:  The Fire Cube works with a wireless network connection. If you do not have a reliable wi-fi source, you may run into issues when it comes to using your Fire Cube.

HDMI Cable: You will need an HDMI cable to connect the Fire Cube to your television appropriately.  When choosing an HDMI cable, it is best not to go with the cheapest you can find. A good mid-grade cable will do the job. If you choose the cheap route, your video quality may suffer.

Amazon Account: Fire Cube TV is an Amazon product. To get full use of the product, you will need to have an active Amazon account that you can use.

Alexa App: One benefit of having a Fire Cube TV is that you do not need to use a remote. Because of this, you need to have the Alexa app installed.  This is how you will change channels and make selections with the Fire Cube.

As you can see, there are a few things you need to start using your Fire Cube TV device successfully. If you are struggling to set the device up, you can ask the purchase location for assistance.

Final Thoughts

Fire Cube TV will be a great asset to your home entertainment if you have a compatible television. Remember, the software that is used by Fire Cube TV requires an HD-compatible TV to work. Converters will not help in this situation. If you do not have an HD-compatible TV, you will find a different device to use.
