Ring products like the Ring Video Doorbell or Ring Floodlight Security Camera have become a safety necessity for homes today. The convenience of having “caller ID for the front door” is an innovative way to have a stronger community and safer neighborhoods. However, if you move out of the US to Canada, would you be able to use your already purchased Ring devices?

Ring Alarm systems and professional monitoring services work in all provinces within Canada except for in Quebec. However, there are a few differences like their protection plan and WIFI connection speed that you will need to look at before connecting your Ring Products.

In this article, you’ll learn how you can use your Ring products in Canada and the best ways to navigate any changes. Read on to find out more!

Can I Use the Professional Monitoring Feature in Canada?

Professional monitoring is offered in the US, and it remains available if you take your Ring product to Canada.

With the exception of Quebec, your ring product is still fully functional in Canada. All monitoring service options are available as a feature for people who have purchased a subscription to Ring’s Protect plan, so this will be something to look into to make sure that the plan you had before matches up with the plan you are going to want in your new home.

Professional monitoring is a crucial feature for Ring devices in every country; professionals are able to monitor your home for break-ins and suspicious activity, but they can also alert authorities for situations like fires and flooding.

Are There WIFI Differences?

For some Ring devices like the Ring Video Doorbell, you need Wi-Fi connection, but the type of router matters for operating. Ring devices are compatible with any wireless routers that are running 802.11 G, N, or B on 2.4 GHz and even 5 GHz for some devices.

Plans and Pricing Differences

Depending on the plan you choose Ring systems pricing plans in Canada will vary. When you move, you will need to change your plan based on your wants and needs. They sell all of their extended services on a month-to-month basis or annually and never lock you into a contract. Also, if you do decide to buy an annual Ring Protection plan but decide to cancel, Ring will calculate your refund using the time left in your annual plan.

You will find below is a breakdown of each plan, the pricing and what they include in Canada.

Does Ring Have Customer Service in Canada?

In some cases, you may need to get in contact with the Ring support team to get help with your device. On their website, they offer live support via chat boxes with the hours of 5AM-9PM MST (US) or by phone. The number call in Canada to speak with a Ring support representative is +1 855-300-7289.

When you move into your new place you will first want to check your router’s connection. You will not need to go into the app and create a new location entirely, but you will need to update your address and WIFI settings. The steps below will walk you through the process:

  1. First, you have to open up Ring’s app, which works fine in Canada
  2. Select the three horizontal lines at the top left of the screen
  3. Select the Settings Icon
  4. Update your address to your new address
  5. Select Continue
  6. Confirm that your new address is correct
  7. Select the three lines from step 2 again
  8. This time, tap Devices
  9. All your devices should be on this screen. Tap the device you want to set up
  10. Select the Device Health icon
  11. Select “Reconnect to Wi-Fi”
  12. From the Device Health screen select the arrow icon at the top of your screen
  13. Select Motion Settings
  14. Adjust your Motion Settings to fit your needs
  15. Repeat the process for every Ring device you’re trying to reinstall

If you already have a purchased Ring device and have moved to Canada the setup is simple. You will want to check your protection plan, check your router and reinstall the device but after these three easy steps your house will be secure again.
