Your Amazon Echo Show 10 is an all-in-one device that does it all. Not only can you use a suite of “skills” to help with daily tasks, but you can also play games, send messages, and set alarms. But can you also use the device to record video too?
The Echo Show 10 can record video. Simply say: “Alexa, start recording,” and it will record up to 60 seconds of footage. From there, the recordings go to your Amazon Photos account.
You can access your Amazon Photos account either on your computer, phone, or Echo Show 10 itself. Continue reading to learn more about recording, sending, and uploading videos using your Echo Show 10.
To record a video on your Echo Show 10:
To watch your videos on your Echo Show 10, you need to have an Amazon Photos subscription. For $19.99 a year, you get 100GB of storage. If you already have Amazon Prime, you get 5GB of Amazon Photos free with your subscription. Once you have this:
The video will download based on what device you’re using. For instance, if you’re accessing your Amazon Photos account on your phone, the video will likely go to your camera roll. If you’re using a computer, the video will likely go to your downloads as an MP4. Here, you can send the video to friends or upload it to social media.
Your Amazon Echo Show 10 comes with a special feature called “drop-in.” The feature is literally what it sounds like. Without notice, you can view footage from your Echo Show 10’s camera and “drop-in.”
While you can’t record using drop-in using your Amazon Echo Show 10 through the Alexa app, there is a way to get around it.
To enable the drop-in feature on your Echo devices:
Once you’ve completed the steps listed above, you can watch footage using the Alexa app. To do this, make sure you have these features enabled on your Echo Show 10:
Now, to watch live footage:
The Alexa app does not allow you to record footage. However, as mentioned, there’s a way to get around it. You can record your phone’s screen and, in doing so, the live footage your Echo Show 10 shows.
If you have an Android phone, you can record your screen by:
You can stop recording by swiping down from the top of the screen and tapping the screen recorder icon. The recording will go into your photo album.
If you have an iPhone that’s iOS 14 or later, you can record your screen by:
Now, your iPhone will start recording the screen. Here, you can enter the Alexa app and record what your Echo Show 10 “sees.” To stop recording, select the red bar at the top of the screen. Your recordings will go into your photo album.
The drop-in feature lets you do more than view and record live footage; you can also control the camera. For instance, suppose you’re watching footage through the Alexa App. You can:
This allows you to get the best possible recording while using this feature.
When you’re in the same room—rather than having a video call with someone in a different room or home—recording with your Echo Show 10 is easy. Simply say, “Alexa, start recording,” and you’ll get 60 seconds of footage sent to your Amazon Photos account. While you can record on your Echo Show 10 using the drop-in feature, this requires a few extra steps.
