Ring’s Stick Up Cam models are meant to be easy and quick to install security cameras. There are three models: the Ring Stick Up Cam Battery, Ring Stick Up Cam Plug-in, and Ring Stick Up Cam Solar. Each one is powered based on the needs of the end user. Since there are three models, can the Ring Stick Up Cam Battery be plugged in?

The Ring Stick Up Cam Battery cannot be plugged in. The Ring Stick Up Cam Battery is designed with removable quick-change battery packs that allow hot swapping batteries in and out. Only the Ring Stick Up Cam Plug-in can get power through an outlet.

The different Ring Stick Up Cam models can be used depending on the user’s needs. Other than the power needs, the different Ring Stick Up Cam models function exactly the same. It allows seamless integration with the other Ring devices the user uses in their overall home security system.

Different Power Models of Ring Stick Up Cam

There are multiple models of the Ring Stick Up Security Camera available using different methods of powering the security camera system. The Ring Stick Up Cam comes in three different models depending on your needs:

  • Ring Stick Up Cam Battery
  • Ring Stick Up Cam Plug-in
  • Ring Stick Up Cam Solar
  • Changing Ring Stick Up Power Modes

Ring Stick Up Cam Battery

The Ring Stick Up Cam Battery is the easiest-to-place model. Once a charged battery is installed, the camera can be placed anywhere without any restrictions due to power. The battery allows the camera to operate anywhere at all.

Ring Stick Up Cam Plug-in

The Ring Stick Up Cam Plug-in will need access to a power outlet. This is useful because you never have to worry about charging and changing batteries. However, you will also need access to a power outlet wherever you want your camera installed.

This can be a downside for people trying to cover blind spots due to its power limitations.

Ring Stick Up Cam Solar

The Ring Stick Up Cam Solar gains power through an included solar panel. This allows the people looking to minimize blind spots or not wanting to deal with charging and changing batteries to power their security camera via solar power

This option is the best of both worlds as long as sunlight access. You have the versatility of the battery model by not being tied to landline power. You also have the ease of use by not having to babysit batteries.

Changing Ring Stick Up Power Modes

It is also possible to change how your Ring Stick Up Camera is powered via the quick-release battery port. You can attach a Ring solar panel or a DC power cable and adapter via the quick-release battery port.

How to Switch Power Modes on Your Ring Stick Up Camera

  1. Open the Ring app on your mobile device.
  2. Select the Menu button in the upper left corner of the screen
  3. Select Settings
  4. Select General Setting
  5. Select Power Mode
  6. Select Switch to Battery/Wired Mode
  7. Confirm your selection

If you decide to switch the way your camera is powered, you must change the settings in the Ring app. Otherwise, your camera will not operate properly. Also, when you switch power modes, you will erase any previously saved motion settings.

Ring Stick Up Cam Battery Life

Ring claims the Ring Stick Up Cam Battery charge can last around a thousand camera activations under normal usage conditions. How often the camera activates depends on the user’s settings and the placement and location of the camera.

The Ring Stick Up Cam Battery can charge in five to ten hours, depending on how depleted it was.

Luckily, one of the best features of the Ring Stick Up Cam Battery is that it has quick-change battery packs that can be hot-swapped in and out for a near-continuous camera feed.

It is possible to get the official Ring Rechargeable Battery Pack by itself or in a combo pack with two batteries and a charging station. There are also non-official models as well.

Ring Rechargeable Battery Pack

The official Ring brand rechargeable battery pack retails for $34.99 on Amazon. It has five stars with over 97,000+ ratings on Amazon. This type of battery pack will be pre-installed on your Ring Stick Up Cam Battery camera.

The battery that comes with the Ring Stick Up Cam Battery can charge via the provided USB cable, but the charging station allows the charging of multiple batteries at once.

Conclusion

The Ring Stick Up Cam Battery and the Ring Stick Up Cam Plug-In are two different products. There is also a Ring Stick Up Cam that is solar-powered. However, none of the products are interchangeable. You will need the battery version for battery-powered, the Wired version for plugging into an outlet, and the Solar version for powered by solar energy.
