Beats Studio Buds How To Check Battery (Or When It’s Charged)

Last Updated Jun 27, 2022
battery

The Beats Studio Buds are Apple’s most popular earbuds right now that aren’t AirPods. They have full functionality on Apple iOS and Android operating systems; something AirPods aren’t capable of. AirPods full functionality only works with iOS devices. Beats Studio Buds come with a charging case that is capable of charging the earbuds fully twice with a full charge.

Since Apple has made the Beats Studio Buds fully functional with iOS and Android devices, the method you can check the battery on them is generally the same. However, there are still some differences. Apple uses similar technology with its AirPods to connect to iOS devices, and with Android, they connect through the Beats for Android App.

How to Check The Battery Level Of Your Beats Studio Buds

There are a multitude of ways you can check the battery level of your Beats Studio Buds depending on your operating system, whether you are using Apple’s iOS or an Android device. Here are the most popular ways:

  • Adding a Battery Widget to the Home Screen on iOS
  • Adding a Battery Widget to the Today View on iOS
  • Adding a Battery Widget from Today View to Home Screen on iOS
  • Downloading the Beats App for Android Devices
  • Pairing Beats With Android Using Fast Pair
  • Putting Beats Into Pair Mode Manually

Even though you can’t use the case to tell the battery level, it is essential for every function of the Beats Studio Buds. Continue reading to learn how to check the battery level of your Beats Studio Buds on either operating system.

Checking Beats Studio Buds Battery Charge for Apple iOS Device

Once you have your Beats Studio Buds connected to your Apple iOS device, checking the battery level is fairly simple. You can set up a battery widget in the Today View on your iOS device that will display the battery level of all the Bluetooth devices connected to the iOS device. (such as headphones or an Apple Watch).

It is also possible to add the battery widget to your Today View, drag it from the today view, and have it be a permanent addition to your iOS device’s Home Screen.

Add a Battery Level Widget to Home Screen:

  1. Press and hold an empty space on the Home Screen
  2. The apps should now start to shake, and a little red X should be visible in the corner of the apps
  3. Press the Plus (+) symbol in the upper left corner of your Home Screen
  4. Scroll down until you see a widget called Batteries
  5. Choose from the three available different widget sizes
  6. Press Add Widget
  7. Press Done

Checking Beats Studio Buds Battery Charge for Android Devices

Setting up Beats Studio Buds to connect with Android devices works similarly, but there are a few differences. For one, the Beats Studio Buds must connect to Android devices through the Beats app. Second, you must ensure the Beats app has access to your location. After that, the setup is not much different.

The battery charge level will be indicated right at the top of the app when you click on your paired Beats Studio Buds with your device. Just download the Beats app from the Google Play Store.  The Beats app only works with these Android Operating Systems:

  • Android 7.0 or later
  • Marshmallow or later

Turn on Location Services for Fast Pair With Android Device

Fast Pair is what allows most of this to go quickly. Otherwise, there is a bit of legwork (not much, really). Fast Pair speeds the process up.

  1. Go into your device’s Settings menu
  2. Press Security & Location
  3. Scroll until you see Location
  4. Toggle Use Location to ON position
  5. Open the Beats app on your Android device
  6. Click the menu in the upper left corner of the app
  7. Select App Settings from the menu
  8. Select Android settings from the app settings
  9. Select Permissions from the Android settings
  10. Make sure the Location option is turned to the ON position

Pair Beats Studio Buds With Android Device With Fast Pair

Next, you will need to put the Beats Studio Buds into pairing mode to get ready to work with the Beats app and your Android device. It is possible

  1. Open the lid to the Smart Case – The charging and carrying case your Beats Studio Buds came with
  2. Hold the Smart Case near the Android device you are trying to connect to
  3. You should get a notification – Press “Tap to Pair.
  4. You should see aPairing Complete” or a “Device Connected” notification message.
  5. You should now get a notification that allows you to set up your Beats Studio Buds.
  6. PressSet Up Now

You can also go to your Bluetooth menu and tap the name of the Beats Studio Buds and access the device from there.

Put Beats Studio Buds Into Pairing Mode Manually

If, for some reason, you are having trouble with the auto-connect working, you can also put your earbuds into pair mode manually. This allows you to connect your Beats Studio Buds to any other device with Bluetooth.

  1. Open the lid to the Smart Case
  2. Press and hold the system button until the LED on the case blinks
  3. On the device you are trying to connect to, open your Bluetooth menu (often located in the Settings menu)
  4. Allow the connection to follow through

Once you have your Beats Studio Buds connected to your Android device and Beats app, you should be able to view the battery life from there.

Conclusion

Apple has made the Beats Studio Buds utilize the Fast Pair technology they designed initially to work with their AirPods. It makes the pairing and usage of earbuds quick and painless.
