Arlo Video Doorbell Will Not Connect to WiFi – Troubleshooting

Arlo Video Doorbells are a great way to keep your home safe, but they only work if they are connected to Wi-Fi! 

Here are the reasons why your Arlo Video Doorbell won’t connect to Wi-Fi: 

  • Your Arlo app needs to be updated. 
  • You changed routers and need to re-pair. 
  • The Wi-Fi network is 5 GHz instead of 2.4 GHz. 
  • The router is out of range. 
  • The connection speed has fallen below 2Mbps.

Arlo App Needs Updating

Most of us skip updates on our phones when they pop up, which means we’ll have to stop using them for the time being! But having the latest version of your apps ensures they function properly. 

To fix an Arlo Video Doorbell that won’t connect to Wi-Fi, you may just need to update the Arlo app! 

How to Fix an Outdated Arlo App

When you open your smartphone, you can head to the app settings and select the Arlo app. It will prompt you to update the app if it’s waiting for you. 

While in the settings menu, you should also ensure that Wi-Fi Assist and Adaptive Wi-Fi features are turned off on your mobile device.

You Changed Routers

And while 5 GHz systems are often praised for being faster, they don’t have as wide a range. 

But more importantly, Arlo Video Doorbells do not function unless connected to a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network. So if your device simply won’t connect to your Wi-Fi, this may be your problem.

How to Fix a Wi-Fi Network that is 5 GHz

First, you must find out what kind of Wi-Fi network you’re working with. 

And if it is 5 GHz, luckily, you can change it to 2.4 GHz quite easily! All you need to do is follow the instructions on your internet service provider’s page. 

For most companies, it’s simply opening a web browser and navigating the channel menu to change it.

The Wi-Fi Router is Out of Range

If the Arlo Video Doorbell is not connecting, it may be that your router is simply too far away from the device to function properly.
