Looking annoyed at a phone in front of a tent

The Amazon Halo Band works with the Halo app by continuously syncing all your activity data with the app.

One of the most important features of the Amazon Halo Band is that it regularly syncs with the halo and allows you to monitor your progress over time. So what happens if the device isn’t syncing? Well, run the risk of losing important data. Luckily, chances are you can fix this issue yourself. Let’s look at the ways you can go about it in detail.

Reasons Your Amazon Halo Band Isn’t Syncing

For a device like the Amazon Halo Band that doesn’t have a screen, it is hard to troubleshoot when there are problems. One possible problem is the app not syncing with the halo app on your device.

There are a few possible causes for this, which all require different ways of getting resolved. These causes are:

  • App malfunctioning: The band might be sending data to the app, but the app refuses to show it for various reasons. This can easily be resolved by force-stopping the app.
  • Band issues: This can be a minor bug in the software running on the band, or the band’s connection simply isn’t working. There is also the chance of hardware damage in the band, which prevents it from syncing with the app.

These two are the causes of band and app not syncing. Now, let’s look at how to resolve them.

How to Fix Amazon Halo Band Not Syncing

Knowing the reason your Amazon Halo Band isn’t syncing with the app is the first step in resolving the issue.

Make sure that the band is well charged

The band’s battery won’t sync with the app if it’s low. While a new halo band often comes charged, it is always possible that yours isn’t. Plug it to power and check the app again sometimes after charging.

Check to see if the halo band is connected to the app

If the band isn’t connecting to the app, there won’t be data sent from it to your mobile. To check this, go to Settings and check the device icon. If the device is connected, the icon should read connected, and you should discount that as an issue.

Ensure that your phone is connected to the internet

The app won’t update your data if your phone is not connected to the internet. Check your internet in a browser to be sure.

Ensure that your phone is within range of the band

If your phone is outside the range of your band, the band will be unable to send data to the phone. The effective range should be not more than a few meters, and you shouldn’t make your phone be more than this distance from the band.

Refresh the halo app

A minor bug can make the app refuse to update. Refresh it by going to the settings page and swiping down. Check the page again to see if the app

Force close the Halo app and restart it

As the problem might be the app, restarting the app could be a simple solution to the problem of the band not syncing. To do this, go to the app list of your device and force close the app. You can then open it again and check if it’s updated.

Restart your band

You can restart the band by pressing and holding the button on the device for fifteen seconds. Once the device has restarted, the LED will blink white. You can then try to connect again.

Reset the device

If you try everything else and the app still isn’t syncing, the device might be going through an issue that can’t be resolved so trivially. Resetting the band is the only solution and is the last resort in this case. To do this, follow the steps below:

  • Unpair the device from your mobile. Do this by using “Unpair” on Android and “Forget this device” on iPhone.
  • Open the Amazon Halo app
  • Go to settings
  • Go to devices and select Halo band
  • Select deregister band
  • Double press the button on the band and, on the second press, hold the button down until the LED light blinks purple.

You can then open the Amazon app, log in and set up the device again.

Following all of these is a surefire way to resolve your halo band not syncing. If none works, contact Amazon customer support for assistance as there is nothing more to do.

Conclusion

As the Amazon Halo Band doesn’t have a screen to show activity, you can only track your data by checking it on the Halo app. But what if the band isn’t syncing with the app? That is no trivial issue. Luckily, you can take a few steps to fix this yourself.
